Re: San Francisco Bay Area Aviation - 2023

There was some talk about SFO's expansion and renovation goals in the UA Fleet Thread, but I thought I'd kick over the conversation to here. I didn't realize until recently that not only is a forthcoming AC lounge in T2 a reality, but also that it's due to open as soon as next month, according to s...

Re: Delta Fleet Thread - 2022

I hate to beat on a dead horse but some things aren't adding up with the a350 with regards to its performance numbers vs the 787. Can someone explain how the 787 despite its shorter numbers distance-wise can do a East Coast to JNB or even west coast to SYD with no issues while the a350-9 struggles; ...

Re: TWA 747 Operations

My lone trip across the country on TWA came as a kid in the summer of 1989. SFO-JFK rt. I was initially under the impression that I was on a 747 both legs. But I then remembered the bathroom configuration in the back of the aircraft when I used it because it was so unique. A wall of bathrooms. Only ...

Re: AN-124 at OAK today.

Yes I heard her this morning as she turned over my house to glide into OAK. The FLYSFO Instagram page made a post about it coming into SFO for a bit. Another unique aircraft for its location is at SFO right now. A Delta A350 diverted there for mechanical from Seoul. Still there with no timetable to ...

Re: Airport Photos in the wake of coronavirus impacts

I do have a fascinating request for someone with the means to do so. I believe a great illustration of the grounding would be a comparative photo from Flightradar/Flightaware of the air traffic today/tomorrow and then of 3 months ago. Lets say from 3 regions at noon peak: JFK, LHR, NRT If someone is...

Re: BA9154 diversion into OAK just now

Copy...thx for the info. Wasn't aware of BA having internal issues. Not used to seeing anything larger than a MD11 or 777f on approach to OAK despite me living right under the glide path

BA9154 diversion into OAK (Sept 8)

Was just coming across the San Mateo bridge 20min ago when from a distance I see a irregular heavy on OAK approach. I was still at a distance at dusk but I made out the tail and quickly looked at Flightradar. Looks like it flew around the bay for a bit outta SFO. Anyone got any info on the reasoning...

Re: Why did UA cancel SEA-NRT?

UA and DL made a deal. If DL dropped SFO-NRT then UA would drop SEA to NRT which were the building blocks to DL in SEA

Re: How come the DL A350 can't fly LAX-SYD it is rumored?

Let me just clear something up that I keep hearing regarding the profitability of LAX-SYD on DL. That route goes out full everyday...EVERYDAY. you will not find open J class seats or W seats and even during the offseason you may get 40 seats max open on a random day in the back. It is known to be th...

Re: RUMOR: EY to launch partnership with UA

Again, it makes no sense. What can EY offer that TK cant. Especially with the sky being the limit with regards to TKs expansion plans. If this is true, what would stop TK from cozying up with DL and forming a JV with the struggles of 9w in response. With the new IST airport, I wouldn't be surprised ...

Wait, Turkish Airlines is already a member of the Star Alliance and with the new IST airport is looking to expand. Why does UA need EY then?

Re: Beijing new airport thread (construction developments & discussions)

With so much talk about CZ and where they fit in this as well as the impression that they are the only ones making good business moves; we seem to have forgot the other 40% of traffic in this in MU(China Eastern). I hear no discussion on where they stand in this, both positives/negatives. Also the i...

Re: Airbus A350 Production And Delivery Thread - Part 17

I thought I'd put this here. Kinda iconic and tells us how far we've come in the short time with the A350. At SFO it seems all the Asian carriers are switching to the A350k from the 777w. As shown in this picture: Asiana, Cathay Pacific and China Airlines; all next to each other at SFO. Sorry no reg...

Any updated pictures of DL#1 yet? I'd figure we would've had one lacking the fuselage paint already while outside
