Ryanair flies STN-DUB 8 times a day IIRC. I bet they and EasyJet both have many routes like these (probably many interhub routes).

I think if UA is to expand into Australia, it will be MEL-SFO next. UA has had an established presence in MEL for well over two decades now and will probably need to consider expanding the market beyond daily flights to LAX, with MEL-SFO starting to grow, UA might be waiting to see how well QF does...

Its like they fly to ATL, DTW, MSP and other DL hubs, its called competition.
of course Salt Lake City is a smaller O&D market but I think they do have a place there.

Well, most of the airlines have their most long haul routes and short haul routes:
TP: LIS-GRU and LIS-OPO
IB: MAD-BCN and MAD-EZE
QR: DOH-LHR
LY: TLV-JFK
LOT: KRK-WAW and WAW-ORD
AC: YYZ-YUL, YYZ-LHR and YUL-CDG
TK: IST-ESB or IST-TLV
SU: SVO-LED or SVO-JFK

and there are many more...

Sounds too odd, especially when there is a DFW-HKG flight.

Well PHE-DPS is also pretty strange... Is it strange because of the size of Port Hedland? Bali is one of the favorite holiday destinations for Australians. And it's only two hours flight from PHE. It also saves time transiting at DPS rather than backtracking to PER when people from Port Hedland goi...

I dont see TLV happening, the market is small and it would have to rely on connections. HKG seems like an interesting choice but that might take a while. I think CDG is a pretty big hole in the system. I think a seasonal BRU/ZRH flight might work.

I think HEL is well covered, if not overserved because of AY's big hub in HEL. Also I think those Anna.aero figures are wrong, they are based on the number of searches for a flight and not on PDEW.

Basically as you have mentioned, alot of larger hubs are over served like ATL, DFW, CLT, FRA, DXB, DOH and I can keep on going. Im not saying some of the airports I have mentioned dont have high O&D pax numbers, but most of the traffic is connecting pax.
