By taxi its about the same time, depends on traffic. But if you are talking about public transportation, JFK is more comfortable by far.

Important addition from DL. Now its BOS,LAX and RDU's turn. And I really dont think this flight is about funneling ORD pax to Asia, Its about O&D and expand their domination in SEA. ORD is Already well covered to Asia from AA and UA.

I saw that BA's fares on that route are pretty low(checked Y fares). For instance, in August this year: AZ FCO-SCL was about 1400$ for round trip, AF CDG-SCL was about 1200$ for round trip and IB and LATAM Chile MAD-SCL were about 1200$ too. BA LHR-SCL was about 900$ for round trip.

I think QR should enter the market again, NJ has a large number of Middle Eastern and South Asian residents and competition to AI and UA is needed. I think that when there will be a nonstop EWR-DOH flight EK will soon follow and try EWR-DXB nonstop.

Just to clarify, a321 and 757 are not widebodies. But it is alot, and thats because its a trunk route that AA serves on its own and there is alot of connections available on both ends, plus alot of O&D traffic.

ATL offers most of the connections the market needs, both international and domestic wise. I think LAX/SFO have a chance to be successful though,and maybe also a seasonal CUN.

I doubt UA will be adding DEN-LHR any time soon. It was really only good 3 months out of the year when it ran and still requires a 787 or 777. The fares of flights to turkey are dirt cheap with many Transatlantic roundtrips fares at around 400-500$ nonstop! Plus TK is a great airline with huge hub operation in IST and IIRC it receives alot of money from the government so it can allow itself flying to low yielding places like CCS and MGQ. W...

That sounds pretty ambitious. Frankfurt area is not a very touristic area and its main O&D traffic comes from business and VFR. Maybe most of the LC traffic is for Germans in the area going on vacations.
