I think one of the things that people have over looked is what do the Delta awards of HND mean for MSP-HND. Before MSP-HND was unique as it was the only connection point for Delta for customers who wanted to fly to HND instead of NRT. Now that has all changed because Delta customers can access HND ...Jump to post
I wouldn't rule out a return of DTW-NGO-MNL. The demand from NGO is stronger in premium classes, while the demand from MNL is stronger in economy class. These two complementary markets were served by a 744 in the past, and could be served by a 339 in the future. DL doesn’t have the Asian network li...Jump to post
Looks like BWI-MSP was changed to ONT-MSP.

Is this the DTW fanboy club or the WS/DL JV discussion? I have lived in three of the four Western provinces and I have no clue where this idea that "now DTW will have service everywhere in Canada" comes from. I love the DTW airport but it simply won't be connected in any meaningful way to...Jump to post

If this is true I'm sure other airlines are feeling a bit like keeping Boeing at arms length. Sounds like a rocky road ahead for Boeing.Jump to post
As far as LCCs go to Europe with minimal Europe service PDX-2 MSP-3 DEN-2 PHL-2 TPA-2 SEA-3 Detroit ZERO Be glad for what you have. DL could easily transfer all those TATL flights out of DTW to another hub and the change wouldn't even be noticed. I would happily trade my Delta hub away for m...Jump to post
To clarify what I think the market is: Primarily business travelers to St. Louis, Kansas City, etc where there are currently no direct flights (and even the connecting flights are expensive unless you book a month or more in advance). That was what the original Midwest was based on. Saved a lot of ...Jump to post
For reference about DTW and it's "hub" status. consider this. Per wiki, the highest passenger count at DTW was in 2005 at 36.4 million. Since then, it dropped to a low of 31.4 in 2009 and was 35.2 in 2018. So, DTW is now 1.1 away from its high. Is it stellar? No. But, slice and dice it ho...Jump to post
DTW looks to have gotten some diversions yesterday. This morning there was an LH 744 parked over by the old Signature ramp on the east side of the field and an Austrian 777 parked on a hard stand by the old smith terminal. Not sure about the LH flight, I thought that was an A359, but the OS flight ...Jump to post
According to https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/283880/delta-w19-long-haul-changes-as-of-14apr19/ DL is upgrading their MSP-ICN service to an A350 starting October 27, 2019. I saw that this morning! Great news for the MSP aviation market. Is this the aircraft that DL had planned to u...Jump to post

From PHL one can already fly to:
And that's just to Europe. Not sure how many more options are necessary.
I flew on N945DN from ATL to ORD back in 2014. According to Flightaware, it seems like it is out of service. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N945DN Crazy the fact that these MD90s will soon be fully retired once Delta gets rid of them. Looks like the last flight was 2/14/2019 and has been at BY...Jump to post

I would think there are a lot of mothballed 767s in the desert that haven't hit expiration yet, but not sure what condition they are in. Less than you'd think. The big freight airlines are snapping them up everywhere they can, driving resale value of even the crappiest flyable 767s way up. Ya. With...Jump to post

Looks like they’ll be using the 767 at least at BOS, ORD, and MSP this summer. Maybe more cities.Jump to post
I don’t know if this have been addressed, but it’s obvious that WW might be able to get the aircraft out. What’s the next step? Do the lessors bring in flight crews? I’m sure those aircraft would be transferred to other airlines. It depends on how the Iceland bankruptcy laws works. I'm in opinion a...Jump to post

Most likely as none of the Wow Air aircraft were in Keflavik at the time of bankruptcy. Most were in the US.
Airlines don't fly routes for numerous reasons. Some, but not all of these applies to DTW. a. Sufficient aircraft not available b. Not enough demand c. Route not profitable, may lose more d. Too much competition e. Slots not available f. Airport/State/City not providing enough incentive Hopefully so...Jump to post
Hopefully Icelandair and Aer Lingus were doing their homework. Look what WOW has done during their time at DTW. Traffic to KEF more than double, major European markets grew (also since LH and DL lowered prices), markets like Berlin, Barcelona, Dublin, & Warsaw may have seen stimulation. It's li...Jump to post
There’s a stigma to buses in the US, plus most pax prefer the comfort of a jetway vs. walking outside to get from the bus to the aircraft.Jump to post
I can't see DTW getting it. NH has no direct feed and DL connecting traffic won't switch to NH. I'm sure that what automotive contracts exist will stick with DL. There are many more NA cities which are far more underserved. I know that DTW fanboys are hoping for a backup in case the DTW-HND falls th...Jump to post

More proof DL hates Detroit: On my flight yesterday afternoon, I purchased a sandwich. Normally the sandwich comes with a Sanders chocolate... no more!!! What are the top places that HI people want to go to that's not currently served by HA? I don't know the answer to that, but maybe that's a good place to start. I can't see how going into DEN/DFW/IAH/MSP/ATL could possibly work. Maybe ORD could work at certain point of the year? Maybe IAD also? eit...Jump to post

Looks like a new land transportation company operating between MSP and Duluth/Mankato. Interesting is that supposedly you'll be able to select those two cities as a destination on the airline booking system. First partner a LCC. Any guesses? They should be showing love to DTW, since there are more Portuguese in Detroit than Portugal. :stirthepot: I assume this is sarcasm, because it's not factual. They most definitely seem sarcastic, because the real amount is minuscule. It was meant as sarcasm. There is just a poster on a.net who feel...Jump to post
