Unfortunately the editors haven't had (and still don't have) their tools since the site relaunch. Any clue when those tools will become available to the editors? It is mind-boggling that such an important feature to maintain/improve the data quality of this website is still not implemented after al...Jump to post
dutchspooter1 - what exactly is "poor" about my Skyvan shot? I already mentioned that. But, it also didn't receive 750 photo views in a couple of hours (like the photo I questioned to start this thread). On average it sure did. And there weren't two identical photos added before it (again...Jump to post
If you can post an example of me uploading a photo and getting more than a couple hundred views in an hour, aside from something that’s being promoted as new, then please do.. How about N80GB with 7K views within less than 24 hrs? It's a nice Skyvan, but nothing special and the light is actually qu...Jump to post
It is unfathomable that such a poor shot, of a nothing subject, would receive that many views, so quickly. I'm sure people are thinking that about some of your photos as well. Side-on photos of ordinary airlines at SEA that get thousands of views in a matter of hrs/days (even though the quality of ...Jump to post
It depends pretty much on the angle and type of aircraft. For side-on photos (like the Etihad Dreamliner) I think you should always include the entire aircraft (including the horizontal stabilizer), but for head-on photos you could cut out part of the wings and only include the fuselage and engines....Jump to post
I've been to southern Arizona three times (2017, 2018, 2019). You can find the trip reports on my website http://www.aviaspotters.nl (I'm still working on the 2019 report but didn't visit too many new locations compared to '17/'18)). Of course you can find my photos on this website (https://www.airl...Jump to post
I think a lot of spotters who take photos at airside (i.e. "infield") arranged this through their job or connections. As a hobbyist/photographer it is usually very tough to get airside access at large airports but much easier at smaller (e.g. general aviation) airports. As a rule of thumb,...Jump to post
A while back I ran into a group of spotters at PHX, all under the age of 18. None of them, not a single one, knew what Airliners.net was. They did however know about the "other site" and had hundreds of pictures there spread across them. Speaks for itself I think. I think part of the reas...Jump to post
Only the first photo should be considered for priority screening, regardless of whether it's a new livery, new registration, etc. In this case it's likely that the three photos you mentioned were uploaded more or less simultaneously, justifying priority screening for all three of them.Jump to post

There probably won't be much progress made on this, or the other things you've asked about. We no longer have a dedicated developer, and I don't know when Matt will be replaced. Are there any plans to hire a new dedicated developer this year? Or can we consider 2019 another lost year when it comes ...Jump to post
While I'm still trying to figure out if/when and how much a stabilizer may be cropped, how about this one: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Allegian ... 82/5298327Jump to post
So how is the rejected Egyptair any different from this one that got accepted just a month ago?

Hello all, Regarding the following photo: https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/3/0/7/5275703.jpg I just received a cropping rejection for this one, right in frame, even though it is cropped in the same way as the improved Flair Air mentioned in my earlier post (http://www.airliners.net/pho...Jump to post
Hi all, I just got this photo rejected for blurry (also on appeal): https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/9/3/5/5258539.jpg I don't see the blur, also not when comparing to other Rwandair photos taken at Brussels, e.g. https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/5/7/8/4550875.jpg https:/...Jump to post
Low in frame, top of the fuselage looks soft/blurry and overexposed.Jump to post
Still all I can say is that the process might be slowly but it is definitely improving, I mostly upload at 1.600 px or larger and didn't have "better smaller" in quite a while. And I did have conversations with screeners that were rather encouraging concerning " larger" sizes. S...Jump to post
I can understand your feeling. I think the most frustrating thing about our hobby is when things don't go as you expect and you're caught off guard. Even the modern technology that is currently available can't prevent this. Whether it has to do with weather (better/worse than expected), runway usage...Jump to post

Just got several 502 errors, so whatever they did, it wasn't helping at all.
EDIT: seems to be working OK again, thanks Jeff.
It certainly feels that way - we have a list of bugs and errors affecting the site, and the only developer working on it has left, with no sign of a replacement. Then, we have the larger list of enhancements and updates that has been sitting out there literally for years, while the moderators repea...Jump to post
Thank you for your reply, although I'm disappointed to read that VerticalScope is pretty much giving up on this website. Let's hope they will sell it soon to a party that actually cares to invest, rather than just sit back and wait for the ad revenue to come in.Jump to post
dutchspotter1 wrote:Good points and I believe they have been mentioned earlier.
Would be very helpful if the developers could post a list here of all the bugs/issues that still need to be fixed.
I am curious what you think about this statement. Whereas the majority of the uploaded photos does feature airliners (this applies to my own photos as well), it feels to me like other aspects of aviation are under-exposed, in particular Business Aviation and General Aviation and to a lesser extent M...Jump to post
