Current engine technologies seem
to be pretty maxed out to me, at least judging by how complexity is basically making reliable operations largely a thing of the past.

So I don’t think we will se a new clean sheet from either of the two anytime soon.

With all the ultra long range large business jets coming online (like the G650 and the Global 7500), the older jets in that category that don't have a range even close to that of the new ones become rather unattractive.
