It seems like Wizz made some major mistakes with hedging.

If all your competitors hedge, you kind of have no choice but to hedge. And you certainly don't stop hedging when fuel is low, if anything you hedge more when it's low and less when it's high.

No it was a wise move. Business travel is way down and fuel prices are way up. In this environment the way to make money is pack the A320'/737's to the max for leisure destinations.

It's interesting that AA needed the money more urgently, so they used their FF program as collateral for the government loan, but as the markets improved UA/DL were able to tap the private markets with their FF program.
