Because then they would probably have to drop to a 7 abreast layout. I assume that's the case, but 8 abreast at 18.5 inches is 148 inches total. 9 abreast at 18 inches is 162 total. I haven't seen the mockup, so I assume armrests and such must be wide enough that they more than eat into that differ...
