IIRC, the designation "D9S" was for the DC-9 of ATI with high density configuration. Alitalia used their DC-9 in a layout with fewer seats. The DC-9-32s of ATI had 120/123 or even 125 seats, while the DC-9 of AZ had much less, for many years (for example) 107 seats.

Austrian Airlines also used their MD-87ERs on long routings to the Maldives and India with fuel stops. Even with the MD-81, they operated flights to Kenya with a fuel stop.

It will probably depend on each airline and different types of aircraft. I am a flight attendant on A319/320s and the policy of the company (for which I am working for) normally starts boarding 25 minutes prior to door closing.

EasyJet I think is still chartering Jets to cover all their routes.


If you mean the TXL-ops, easyJet no longer uses jets chartered by other companies. All flights are operated with easyJet-aircraft and crews.
