Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

UA has upgraded service to EWR and IAD with lie flat up front. Their 753's are serving SAN for that reason, I believe no 737's in UA's fleet are currently configured this way.

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

Great news on increased usage. This morning's UT has not so great news on the delay of a new terminal 1. Looks like further delays on construction start with EIR delays related to whatever transportation plan is approved. http://enewspaper.sandiegouniontribune.com/infinity/article_share.aspx?guid=0b...

Regarding a new Terminal 1, no one is denying that it is needed. In reading the UT article 3 times, there seems to be no solid consensus on a traffic solution to get people to and from the airport. Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

As a UA MP, this is great news on upgrade to IAW/EWR. The flatbeds and more capacity to east coast is long overdue. Most of UA's 737's outta SAN are sold out and cramped at times. I miss the old days when UA had lots of 757's to most of their hubs. Obviously will never see that again with poor fuel ...

Indeed, the Ferrari of airliners. When UA used to operate lots of 752's out of SAN, some really amazing takeoffs on 27, rotating before the commuter terminal (5,000 ft) and rocketing up over Pt Loma. And the 24 first class seats configuration meant more chances at upgrades. I get the fuel consumptio...

Re: Air France crew detained after passenger complains “not receiving her upgrade”

Seems simple here, there were no upgrades available, this person thinks that she's more important than others, and by making a big scene and having AF employees detained, the answer is obvious, put her on a do not fly list for AF, she can take her sense of importance to other airlines.

Though I rarely use LAX as SAN is my base, I read somewhere that UA is thinking about a new Terminal 9 closer to Sepulveda Blvd with direct access bypassing the current traffic bottleneck getting in and out of the terminal area. If UA goes forward with this, they wouldn't abandon LAX as a hub.

Not bashing Delta here, but local and NBC Nightly took Delta's PR release without fact checking. I can iMessage for free on UA, it doesn't work on UA Express flights for the most part. As I said, I've been texting for over a year with UA.

I feel the pain of SWA passengers out of T1. As a UA ff, the move to T2W from T1 was like moving from a Yugo to a BMW. T1 is awful, and the replacement can't come soon enough. I fly SWA on rare occasions and dread the experience of an overcrowded terminal.
