I'm kind of surprised the A330neo did not win. Cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain, lots of trained pilots around, lots of spare parts, etc. Good range, good capacity, good economy. What am I missing? Well a new a.net narrative appearing to be forming is that it's a move to get the US Departme...Jump to post

Thanks for posting, there is some video now uploaded. Seemed a little bumpy!
The A350 arrived at DTW today from ATL! It was / is doing extensive pattern work at CVG both before arriving at DTW and after leaving to head back to ATL. I hope they will through in some domestic revenue runs before the inaugural October 30 run from DTW-NRT. It seems crazy they would not do that i...Jump to post
Thanks Sir Tim. Totally captain obvious stuff, but maybe it doesn't seem that way from inside the US?Jump to post
The reason? EI says it is sticking with 330s, which is a fine aircraft no doubt, but with its hub at Dublin growing, it doesn't seem to make sense to stay with an aircraft of the same capacity they've had for the last 20 years. My guess: the case made by IB for these aircraft was better than that m...Jump to post

I also just saw a very interesting taxi top ad in NYC: STOP IN LISBON ON YOUR WAY TO ROME Interesting angle that I've never seen before in an airline ad That seems to be their strap line at the moment, hell they even painted an A330 with that message. http://cdn.panrotas.com.br/media-files-cache/21...Jump to post
Of course it makes sense. They are already built and can be taken up and put into rework whenever the air force likes. I don't buy the argument that they are bespoke aircraft from the ground up, all other nations manage with modifications of standard aircraft, why can't the USA?Jump to post
Its is 100% not a delivery flight to fly an A350 TLS-AMS-JFK. New aircraft are NEVER put into revenue service when being delivered from the manufacturer without being inducted into the airline's maintenance systems, being fitted with airline-owned/installed equipment, and being furnished with passe...Jump to post

No he didn't. He put the chocks down immediately.

This was always going to happen eventually. Thus ends the SXM experience I suspect.Jump to post
Wearable body cameras for FAs (to be used I the event of a disturbance and left in a locker at all other times) would be a cheap and minimally intrusive solution. But as another poster said, everyone would film on their cell phones anyway.Jump to post

I'm an American. I hate propaganda. Sure they are getting money from the government. Who hasn't? You're telling me none of the US3 has received a penny from the govt? Besides, they are trying to play catch up with the other blue chip players out there. You don't see Europe's airlines making videos ...Jump to post
Hold on a moment, this thread is making it sound as if the staff did nothing: France said she put wet wipes on Owen’s neck and down his shirt to cool him. His body felt hotter as they sat in the aircraft, she said, and flight attendants brought ice in garbage bags to place on the 4-month-old. Crew ...Jump to post

I suppose it all depends on what altitude the new Addis Ababa airport is at. If it is indeed lower as rumoured up thread, then it would make sense to prepare for the future fleet requirements, rather than order as per the conditions found today.Jump to post
I just wonder about MT,business class, flatbed and all is not really their thing, maybe a Business like cabin with recliners. Could be wrong. It is their thing, they just borrow the expertise from the German division, Condor. DE sell seats on all the MT flights as well as their own. I can see the tw...Jump to post
MH seem to be doing well after restructuring, talking about new widebodies and new routes.
So why the heck can't they make the A380 work to LHR?
This is awful but is it the best CASM on the skies? It has to be. Maybe the A380 would beat it if you took Airbus' reference 853-pax layout and added 11ab downstairs and 9ab upstairs (~950 seats?). Of course that's impossible without an extra door and recertification. What's the longest 9ab A330 fl...Jump to post

Glad people start seeing this is about more than potential pony rides at FL 370 or proving that pigs truly can fly. Emotional support is nice, wouldn't we all want that? But that should come from people, for example your spouse in a first class couple suite. You're off base here. I personally know ...Jump to post

I'm flying from London to Hong Kong via Doha on the 22/06. Do you think it is wise to rebook and/or will there be serious delays and implications etc? Your flights are likely unaffected unless turkey joins (unlikely). If anything Doha will be less busy and you are more likely to be on time/have a p...Jump to post
Yeah I thought the gate agent might not have the entire story straight and maybe was just trying to put it into terms that the average person getting on the flight might understand. From what I do see the Landing distance at Max landing weight of the CRJ-700 is 5,040 ft which is 240 ft longer than ...Jump to post
I made this comment on another thread, but it's a shame that the livery has the main titles above the window line - all the renderings circulated after the launch showed them more visible centred on the side of the fuselage, with the window line bisecting the blue/green halves of the square element...Jump to post

Unless you are flying with BA, I really wouldn't worry! Move along, nothing to see here! Are you kidding? This is a major meltdown, all flights cancelled from LHR and LGW until 6pm. Reports are LHR T5 in absolute chaos, people can't get their bags, there is a 3 hour queue to even leave T5 airside a...Jump to post
