Back in May, I went to Houston from San Francisco by way of ORD and DFW on my first part of the trip and by way of DFW and LAX on the second part of my trip in order to rack up miles. SFO-IAH nonstop roundtrip is 3,270 miles. I ended up flying 4,668 miles, which is only 1,400 more flying miles.

Flying back from Nashville in August last year to San Francisco, we flew pretty close to Area 51. Close enough to see the Runways and Groom Lake complex, but I would say it was about 30 miles to the north.

Back in 2007, I flew to Fort Lauderdale and back on JetBlue. Both times the flight stopped in Austin, Texas where we had a 30 minute layover each time. For whatever reason, JetBlue flew the E190 both ways. Can't remember the registrations of both aircraft though.

I have family friends who live in Nashville, which is in the path of Totality. So I'm going out there the weekend before to see them and then chase the Eclipse on Monday. I'm flying out of my way through DFW to get a ride on an American MD80 before they retire.
