I wonder what the odds are of it having to stop for refueling. Going east, none. Going west, I think only if expecting bad weather and possible holds. The flights can take advantage of the wind when flying south-west instead of head on into the jetstreams. And the flight shouldn't require etops. Uh...Jump to post

To all my friends and neighbors here in Dallas that said "internal posts say Dallas," what happened? We knew Detroit was one letter too much, but AA flies DFW-HKG and EI is part of IAG, and "Dublin" is a missing link, and does have some fine beer, and whisky too! Where did the s...Jump to post

Oscar is a great guy and a great CEO for United. It's the awful shareholders and Kirby who are ruining the airline. With all of the negative publicity United's gotten lately, it's nice to see them receiving recognition for such a good deed by their CEO. Certainly no recognition was needed, and he did not make this public himself. Bravo Oscar! http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2017/08/30/united-ceo-oscar-munoz-vows-t...Jump to post
In Belgium you can walk into a cafe and see a 32 page beer menu. They are not craft beers, they are well established beers some of them going back 5-600 years. They are exported and enjoyed worldwide. The marketing campaign was directed at the airlines target demographic which will find beers like ...Jump to post
It is a regional thing. A stand number or gate number can be given to a pilot the phraseology is different depending on the airport you land at. In America you are given a gate number regardless of if it has a jetway. As a passenger you are given a gate number that might be different than the one th...Jump to post
Hitting the brakes by accident on a basic taxi out. Is EZY doing this to scare people from flying their airline hoping to not have to expand so fast any more? Are you saying the film was edited to make the crew look bad? And the resulting fix, popping the CB back in, was actually the first thing they did, but the film was edited to make them seem incompetent? I believe HiFly has done work for Norweign before. How likely is it these would be flown for Norweign by HiFly? Maybe a way for Norweign to test the A380 as a long haul LCC aircraft? Why would you avoid an aircraft just for a small noise that comes and goes on startup? Another new account just stirring the pot and 'asking questions' for no real reason. It's a real train wreck, honestly. Not that that's any of the pilots' fault (though some of them say some things that I'm pretty sure they'll regret later on), but the extent to which the whole thing is dramatized is ridiculous (I was expecting some playing up of stuff, but...wow). And would it kil...Jump to post

All I can see is hardcore KLM fans jumping to its defend and downplaying the situation. I'd have thought it's unwise to attempt an approach considering the weather conditions at the time. So Malev, why was today's flight cancelled? No clue. Flights get cancelled all the time for a plethora of reasons. Could be weather (probable due to the current weather at HKG), tech, crew, whatever. And why do you ask me?? I never said KLM never cancels flights. I just thought that post I replied ...Jump to post
I always find it entertaining when one a.netter uses a thread to prove why they're a better Skygod than everyone else. Easyjet has been doing this for years and has a stellar safety record. There is no reason not to have ever heard of the Bay of Biscay. Ha. You're kidding, right? The kids in this newer generation have no idea about much of anything beyond the faces of their cellphones. A CFI has little training and almost no life experience themself. For them to be the most impressionable person in training a new pilot I have always felt is very backwards. HiFly does a lot of troop charters for different nations. I can see how a high density A380 could be good for that kind of business. How many airports military charters serve have been certified for A380 operations? Wouldn't many of the troop charters use military apron parking anyway? Is every mil...Jump to post
Paying $80+ per barrel of fuel until 2019 takes away a lot of extra money you might have for branding. But someone got rich off this branding campaign like someone got rich off CX fuel hedging. Time will tell if the airline survives long enough to repaint the fleet.Jump to post
I've really enjoyed both episodes. As a CFI in the US, I must admit I'm green with envy seeing all of these trainees flying Airbuses with less total time than I have. Nevertheless, it's certainly got me excited to continue moving forward! I started flying the A320 when I only had 200 hours total ti...Jump to post
I can't bring myself to watch it. The short clips I have seen have left me cringing, but that's just me. The seatbelt signs on the left side are not turning on, first thing you check is circuitbreakers but it takes first the mx, a reboot of the airplane, then a call to ops, and a friendly reminder by them to check the cb. I would love to see CX launch SJC one day, but I figure its rather unlikely. If it survives the bad decision making of fuel hedging it will need to trim staff, routes, and airplanes. Good luck staffing this kind of flight. You might find only the junor pilots jumping at the chance to do 18+ hour routes. And sitting in a hold after 18+ hours or diverting is a fatigue caused accident just waiting to happen.Jump to post
An autoland at the limits of the airplane's acceptable conditions? There is no way this was an autoland. Don't insult other people if you are also not informed. Snowball's chance in hell.
