It sounds like the DOJ have all but given their blessing......
https://simpleflying.com/hawaiian-alask ... of-merger/
Does this mean on day 91 they can finalize?
I'm surprised UA hasn't put some sort of statement on their website trying to reassure people.
Jump to postI'm curious...... why would they have 2 different interiors flying around? Only have the new interiors on new deliveries and not do a retrofit on existing planes?
Jump to postI think this one has a better chance of clearing the DOJ because Hawaiian isn't going away.... Yes it is. There will be no more HA. The DOJ doesn't care about the paint on the side of the plane, the uniforms the crew's wear, or what types of drinks are available. You wanna explain that? Alaska said...

Jump to postDo we need to have a separate United accident/incident thread?
Jump to postThese airlines might be upset about getting their planes late, but considering what happened with the Alaska 737MAX9, better to get them late and made right then rushed through the assembly line with mistakes and risk another accident.
Jump to postI bet AS/HI are starting to wonder about their plans right about now.........
Jump to postJust a few days left to go. I'm sure before Monday there'll be some sort of leak or something to indicate what it is.
Jump to postAdmins, didn't we just put out a notice about articles behind paywalls?
Jump to postI know earlier I threw a possible 777X idea out there..... what about a possible A338?
Jump to postIs it presumptuous to think a 777X might be in the works?
Jump to posthttps://www.afacwa.org/alaska_vote_authorize_strike
AS Flight Attendants unions voted 99% to authorize a CHAOS strike. Interesting line:
"There’s no excuse: Alaska management has the money to buy another airline, they certainly have the money to invest in Flight Attendants."
WOW!
I have a feeling that once the NTSB is done with N704AL, they'll probably have to build a new plug for it for it to return to service (if it goes back at all) that plus getting all the oxygen masks back up and some interior cosmetic work........that bird will be on the ground for quite a while.
Jump to postYikes....the problem I see is, (and what the government DOESN'T see) is Spirit as it is today will be gone one way or another, so they should have just let it happen.
Jump to postI loved the comment at the end of the article....."Maybe another flight was low on gas?"
Jump to postAnd now WN is doing the same with their MAX 7 order...... only they've decided what they're going to do.... change part of their order to a MAX8:
https://www.reuters.com/business/aerosp ... 024-01-25/
KAYAK has added a filter option now to exclude MAX 9 flights from search results. That's not a fair statement. Kayak has added a filter for ANY plane type in your search results. Not just MAX 9 Was the MAX 9 a selectable option previously though? First time I've come across the feature (selecting t...
Jump to postWouldn't be surprised if there are other passengers who will have similar concerns and AS will have to give them options.
Jump to postI bet there's still gonna be some passengers who will have concerns about flying on the MAX9

I can just imagine the look of shock on the other pilots' faces.
Is the OMA-DFW permanent or is it still seasonal?
Jump to postSounds like United's CEO isn't too happy and is possibly looking at other alternatives. The only alternative I could see would be an A321Neo:

Let's just hope the -900ER's don't get grounded as well.
Jump to postLOL...... getting through that new safety manual would take the whole flight!.....
Jump to postI have a feeling this grounding is going to be a lot longer than we thought.
Jump to postSpirit basically denying there's a risk of bankruptcy:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/spirit-a ... 56872.html
Been about a decade since I last flew out of OMA. I spent a lot of time there in the 2005-2008 timeframe though and really enjoyed my time spend in the city. That was back in the NW DC-9 and ARJ era in and out of OMA. I couldn't tell from the video, and curious from a construction standpoint, but h...
Jump to postMaybe once this mess with the spirit merger being blocked is over, we can get BOS service on B6?
Jump to posthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLPdrP4_Dk8
Highlights:
-2 additional gates
-consolidated concourse
-bigger security checkpoint
-International arrivals area. Makes me wonder...has OMA landed an int'l carrier?
Noise wrote:Who here thinks AS will gobble up B6 down the road, forming a formidable competitor to the Big 4?
To put it simply so everybody can understand......there are 2 types of bankruptcy:
Chapter 11- Reorganize the debt......in this type, the company could find a way to raise some money to keep going.
Chapter 7- GOING OUT OF BUSINESS-..... in this type......stick a fork in ya, you're done!
So the JetBlue-Spirit merger was just blocked....where will this leave the Alaska-Hawaiian deal?
Jump to postI have a feeling one of the options that they're considering is that Spirit files for bankruptcy and B6 gets them that way.
Jump to postWhat do they mean by discrepancies? Do they mean more bolt problems?
Jump to postI'm just wondering why are they only focusing on the MAX9 when the 737-900ER also has a plug available as well.
Jump to postI'm just wondering if there's going to be a congressional hearing after this. I mean the CEO promised transparency, This is the 3rd time a MAX has had a major issue in flight (Including the Ethiopian and LionAir Crashes) but luckily this one had a much different result and all the evidence needed to...

Jump to postI bet the next NTSB press briefing is going to have a LOT of information.
Jump to postDoes anyone know how much longer N704AL is going to be grounded for? Also, how many of the Max9's have RTS so far? AS needs those airplanes! They'll be grounded until the FAA is satisfied they're ready to fly. As for N704AL.....she is going to need a lot of work. According to yesterday's press brie...
