New WBs (I think both 350 and 787, I'm sure on 350) have a functions called by Airbus BTV (Brake To Vacate). There is no BTV on the 787. The 777X will have a "Brake to Exit" selection when it enters service. It may become available on the 787 as well but nothing definitive at this time.

Hotel expense is a major consideration in determining where an airline bases crew and was usually, but not always, the driving factor at UA. In this regard, NRT never made sense as the hotels in NRT have traditionally been quite inexpensive relative to most of the US destinations served out of NRT....

Many airlines use Marana for both short and long term storage. Probably a lot cheaper than ramp space at their stations. Good dry weather is an ideal factor as well. People toss these kinds of rumors out all the time with little if any substantial fatoids to back them up. Heard it from the tram driver while going to work at the airport is typical. In the mean time potential affected employees worry more about their positions.

We were the launch customer for the 400 and trying to get things done was very difficult sometimes because Boeing, like Airbus thinks their way is the only way to go. We had lawyers all over things. Well how did you do it in the -200? Before wave off or during taxi? Agree with your Boeing statement.

I doubt that restricting a TW to 10 vs. 15 would even require an NTO. You would be surprised what lawyers want. For example, the 747-400 Boeing SOP had the flight controls checked in the chocks after engine start. Not to throw stones at Boeing, I don' t know of any carrier who does that on any airc...

Actually, it is quite for an airline to be more restrictive than the manufacturer. Airlines will change the flows to keep standardization across the fleets and change callouts and responses to better harmonize the fleets. All the operator has to do is get a "no technical objection" letter...

Boeings standard 10kt tailwind limitation can be increased to 15kts with paperwork and $$. I forget but I thought that 15 was standard on the 787 series.
