It’s a small and otherwise insignificant fact, but the Dash 8 involved was built in 2009 and spent its whole service with the Japanese Coast Guard. One of the last Dash 8-300s built.

Unfortunate about GSP but it’s not a big surprise. When Southwest launched GSP over a decade ago GSP-BNA was one of the first routes dropped. I don’t think it lasted a year then.

I think the southeast has a lot of potential on the long/thin side. GSP sees a ton of traffic with the final destination of SLC, or connecting to other small cities out west. I think once daily direct routes like SLC-GSP/AVL/CHS/TYS could do well!

Allegiant and Spirit have both tried Columbia (CAE), and neither lasted more than a season. Allegiant even tried it twice. It’s just never been able to make it work.

An Expressjet (Continental) E145 was the first plane I ever worked on the ramp back in 2008. Loved working them and would take one over a CRJ-200 any day to either work or fly on.

I was going to try and get one more ride in, but about a month ago I flew on an MD-88. My daughter and I were upgraded to first class. Such a wonderful experience. I think I’m going to go out on a high note and call that my last flight.
