This is correct. Today's ruling is only half the equation. While the outcome may well not be comparable, we should recall that the proposed AA/QF JV was approved by Australian authorities before being rejected by the DOT.

That's a bit surprising, as I'd always been of the impression that Brazil was going to be the problem child as far as approvals go. This shouldn't come as a surprise. US-MAN services are often upwards of 70-80% UK POS, and UK POS yields have been absolutely dismantled thanks to the one-two punch of Brexit FX impacts and TATL LCCs.
