Re: Airports where pax had to use stairs to board 747, DC-10, L-1011

I Flew AMS-YUL-IAH-MEX v.v. about a dozen times between 1972-1975 with KLM 747-206B; deplaning in YUL was with stairs, transit in large seperated areas with CP Orange chairs, (can also recall IB 747 at that same airport/area); IAH was definitely equiped with jetways; MEX used stairs until 1974, afte...

Re: Will KLM ever order a Narrow Body Airbus?

The narrowbody mainline fleets of KLM and Air France are each large enough to justify a split in the orders, with KLM currently operating 50 737 (18-737, 27-738 and 5-739) with 4 more 737-8 (NG) on order (the rumor being the latter 4 might replace some of the 700’s); and AF operating 107 A320 (18=A3...

Re: Texas International

I Grew up in Mexico City. I remember flying twice MEX-IAH in 1973-1974. Both time daytime flights, both time DC9 (30?). Both times a beautiful Lone Star tail. And that is the other thing I remember living under the San Mateo Approach (Satelite edo de Mex), seeing these Lone Star tails passing day af...

Re: KLM or Garuda? Who flew this route?

This flight operated for quiet some time in the eighties until the early 90s. It was always operated by Garuda Indonesia with a 747-200B. The flight operated once a week, cannot recall the day for sure, probably on a wednesday or thursday out of amsterdam (tuesday or wednesday out of Denpasar).

Re: British Airways B787-10 Update

A blocked off J seat, or 2, is a J seat that can't be sold. Given that creating a dedicated crew rest area for the 787 doesn't negatively impact cabin area, or substantively affect max payload (when not used) unless one is absolutely sure it's not going to be used on longer haul sectors that *might...

Re: British Airways B787-10 Update

I think it has been mentioned here, it is not about the capability of the 787-10, it's the economics... 787-10 will be utilised for certain routes with higher capacity needs than 787-9 or 8/ 772; where the range will not exceed 3800-4200nm. If there will be no crew bunks, than missions will be limit...

Re: Norwegian switches engines on all Dreamliner aircraft

Maybe the NOK issue is resolved... If not it was a digit to many, it is probably 340 Million NOK per aircraft; That is about EUR 34,5 Million per aircraft, cosidering the engines have a residual value for RR, this sounds plausible.

Re: Spoilers in Action right after Takeoff

As you can see the left ailoron was moving up (pushing the wing down), this is enhanced automatic coordinated partial deployment of the left spoiler, which in fact dumps lift. the right side spoilers will not be used during this movement.
