Didn't realize that Palm Beach and Sarasota were spring break destinations. Spring Break is not always a positive thing for communities. Fort Lauderdale used to be a huge spring break destination in the 90s until the locals got fed up with the kids and forced town hall to crack down on the partying.Jump to post
American tourists are also to blame. I never understood why every American MUST GO to London, Paris, Amsterdam and Rome. In many cases, "secondary cities" (e.g. Budapest, Avignon, Utrecht, Seville) have lots of culture and entertainment to offer as well. It's the same the other way around...Jump to post
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet...in many large metro areas there were two newspaper deliveries, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon. My parents used to freak out if either newspaper were not delivered on time.Jump to post
One thing I will add to those commenting about it: LAS tower is NOT short staffed despite them only having around 30-40 controllers or so. It is one of the most desirable facilities in the FAA to transfer to and work at. They have a line of people waiting to go there that would show up tomorrow if ...Jump to post
As its name implies, Fresno-Yosemite also serves as a gateway to Yosemite National Park and even Sequioa National Park plus a few ski resorts whereas Bakersfield does not have those type of attractions in the nearby mountains so that might be another reason for FAT's growth.Jump to post
Would love to understand how HNL made the list of Top 10 when airports like SFO aren't even mentioned and a place like DEN is in the bottom 10. HNL is a dump, stuck in a bygone time. Yes the open air aspect is cool and unique but there is nothing else I would consider pleasant about the airport oth...Jump to post
Why is that DL, AA and UA fell that is is necessary to serve KEF when their flights esentially deadend in KEG? Is there that much O and D? Wouldn't be better for those 3 carriers to be more fare competitive to cities in Europe?Jump to post
But I always wondered if Newark Airport would ever "grow up" to be an important airport like LGA and JFK! Me too. Growing up in northern NJ in the 70s and early 80s, EWR was always the "also-ran" airport compared to the attention JFK and LGA got from the majors. UA, AA and TW us...Jump to post

They have scheduled A380 service on at least 2 and sometimes up to 4 carriers, so why wouldn't they be?
Corruption is so widespread and pervasive in Brasil it might be wise jto ignore the issue and pursue other items like fighting violent crime and economic reforms.Jump to post
Early this morning I was in Flightaware looking at departures and arrivals for DFW and I noticed that the UPS hub at DFW had a lot of departures to various domestic cities between 2 and 3 AM. UPS had a early morning hub that was discontinued back in 2008 so I am curious if UPS has restarted this ban...Jump to post
An interesting change is AA going to at least one per day DFW to NAS.Jump to post
The Governor of Kentucky showed up for this announcement?!? Must not be much going on KY...LOL. Well, he is running for re-election next year. There is no off-season for politics in Kentucky! (Or just about anywhere else, am I right?)[/quote] Very true...so glad the current year elections will be f...Jump to post
Wonder if there have ever been instances were an employee has stowed/fallen asleep in the luggage compartment, flown to another destination and sneaked out of the luggage compartment when no one was paying attention at the destination? Seems like it might be possible at a large operation with the em...Jump to post
Is there much of a cargo market in and out of the airports that are being discussed?Jump to post
My wife grew up in Brazil when the military was in power and during their tenure crime and violence was much lower than it is currently. She is looking to the return of military style law and order in Brazil.Jump to post

I lived in DFW for 13 years and the Metroplex always seemed to be comparing itself to the NYC metropolitan area in many different respects. Bottom line is that the DFW airport is a great one but you will never see the number of foreign carriers at DFW that one sees at LAX/JFK due to the lack of tour...Jump to post
There has been quite a bit written and discussed about service from the United States to Keflavik, Iceland via WOW, FL, AA and DL. In regards to the AA and DL flights can passengers on those flights transfer to European carriers (BA, KLM and Air France) to travel on to various destinations in Englan...Jump to post

The solution might be a "baggage storage" in the lounge, where you deliver your baggage when you enter the lounge and reclaim it when you leave. That way it's safe and you can walk around the lounge without having to keep an eye on it. That is what you find at the TK lounge at IST. There ...Jump to post
I was at one of AA's Admiral Clubs at MIA last night (Saturday) when a couple came over, left their handbags in my "section" and went straight to the bar. The couple could not see the bags from the bar nor did they come back to check on the bags in the 40 minutes I was in the lounge. Being...Jump to post

I’ve seen non-hotel guests sneak into the breakfast room before. Seems actually super simple to do... And I have also had my room double-booked. The couple coming into my room got an eyeful, and the manager got an earful. Needless to say, that stay ended up free. I was in Sao Paulo, Brazil recently...Jump to post
I was just listening to the ATC personnel at CYUL and I thought it was interesting that they communicated both in French and English, easily switching between both languages. Question - have there been any concerns expressed within airline circles about this practice for safety reasons or is it all ...Jump to post
I think they look at their network (feeding a new route) and the numbers of passengers between the two cities, competition and the yield. And of course they need a spare plane to operate a route. KLM just killed two African routes in favor of starting Las Vagas. Yield is a tricky thing of course. T...Jump to post

Do they put all those pax in hotels till the next day? Some.. but the local pax probably go home and if it's a 16 hour delay with advance notice, connecting pax may rebook to a later date on their first flight too. If I know there is a 16 hour delay, I'd stay home and go to MIA the next day. When A...Jump to post

You can gamble in Shreveport, LA? I knew about Biloxi, MS, but not Shreveport.
Don't forget about STS (Sonoma County) either. STS is developing into an airport that can be an alternative for North Bay residents who do not want to drive to SFO and/or OAK. Keep in mind that until late 2014, the longest runway at STS was just 5,115 ft. That was long enough for AS/QX Q400s to fly...Jump to post
No new runways. Current runway configuration along with terminal expansions will allow SFO to grow to around 80 million pax. OAK and SJC have multi-billion dollar expansion studies of their own. When it gets to that point we’ll see SFO take on a role similar to that of JFK... Good grief...80 millio...Jump to post
