Plus more CSeries orders! I'm thinking that they'll probably take the ill-fated order off of Republic's hands, assuming that Moxy receives funding and launches successfully. My thought exactly and he may in fact be able to leverage Republic's assistance with the start-up vis-a-vis pilot recruitment.Jump to post
Boise is the 80th most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States, with median household income nearly $10,000 below the national average. I know quite a few people who live there and they love it, but as it is they are basically one-stop from anywhere in the continental US.Jump to post
It is really sad how far downhill SY has gone since the sale to the management company. The model of profit above all else doesn't work in airlines, when you have a reputation to uphold and depend on people booking months in advance. I think the best we can hope for is for AS/NK/WN/B6 to buy them o...Jump to post

If it's marketed as all business class, then it needs to be 3 abreast if on a Q or CRJ. and it basically eliminates the ERJ. Business class needs elbow room to use a laptop.
As for serving hot meals, a well done cold pate (such as a salad Nicoise) would be fine on regional flights.
What sane company would order 100 planes that in their initial operation cannot even do intacity flights in China without major issues! On top of that this is a company that was recently having many financial problems. I think there is much more to this deal than meets the eye. Totally agree there ...Jump to post
This cannot happen soon enough - while there are more gates, it is always so crowded in T2/3, and the Sky Club is pretty abysmal. That said, I still believe the staff at LAX are well above average for Delta. I was in the T2 Skyclub in November, and I thought it was very nice. Not super busy when I ...Jump to post

People in my office thought SEA-LAX-YYZ this past weekend was mad - after reading the above; apparently I'm quite sane. However unlike Sheldon Cooper; my mother never had me tested. Isn't CHS-SEA primarily flown on the -700? Those haven't even been refitted with a premium class, and still have an old cabin, are they trying to do some sort of quasi-premium class service in the first few rows now even though those planes don't have it? I've only flown on -700's to Alaska since p...Jump to post
With limited time, spend the couple extra dollars and get a cab or (Uber) down to Granville Island. Then go eat at Edible Canada. You'll be on the waterfront, see a quaint area of Vancouver and get a fine Canadian meal.Jump to post
I think Alaska wanted to do something to make "premium" a bit better than American/United. They are now boarding PE with MVPs, which is nice. The unlimited booze factor isn't really marketed, but you can get as much as you want in PE. I agree that I wish there was either something offered...Jump to post
Why would they need etops for Canada? Even florida to Canada doesn't need it. I don't think the poster was saying they would need ETOPS for Canada service; rather, he was mocking the excuse that ETOPS certification is preventing quicker implementation of Hawaii service. The only ETOPS needed on tra...Jump to post
If you're going to Amalfi, skip Naples and stay on the train to Salerno. You're so much closer to Amalfi (even if you're going all the way to Positano - the view is killer!). From the Salerno train station it's 200 meters to the ferry and then 8 Euros to Amalfi.Jump to post
Honest question. One of the benefits of working for one of the ME3 for an Expat is the lure of tax-free wages. However I’m guessing that once a majority of the pilots retire they would move back to their country of origin. What are the tax implications for countries such as the US, Canada, Australi...Jump to post

In someone’s wisdom, they did not connect the gates to the baggage system

Yep, if memory serves along with routes (correct me if I am wrong), to some degree, fares were regulated by the CAB. Both routes and fares were regulated. Until deregulation, the only US international carriers were PanAm and TWA. The domestic carriers had to apply to the Civil Aeronautics Board for...Jump to post

Thanks for the info. Do they serve HOT MEAL at all?[/quote]
I'm by no means an AS fan boy, but being Seattle based I frequently end up there. AS offers hot Buy on Board in Y on flights over 2 hours. They're not bad and with Zero dark 30 departure out of SEA it fills the bill.
I am surprised no one else seems to follow DL on free spirits in Y+, as well as premium snacks over a certain number of miles. . AS does give 1 (and they are very strict on that) adult beverage in Y+ on each pass of the beverage cart in domestic, As for a premium snack on AS in Y+, you get a little...Jump to post

The vast majority of demand from the mainland U.S. to Hawaii originates on the West Coast.
