AS seems committed to the west coast and making that their primary market. Any city on the eastern seaboard doesn't make sense to me. The Alaska brand probably wouldn't translate well to a metro area outside the west. If anything, I can see them try to make a go (again) at SLC. AS knows their market...

I keep hoping for AA to make PHL year round, and add JFK and MIA. As for Europe, I think PDX won't see new flights for a few years, unless BA wants to jump on board and leverage their AS partnership further. I can see DL shifting NRT to ICN and JL stepping in. Maybe China at some point, but not soon...

I've seen SNA get listed as Orange County, Santa Ana, and John Wayne Airport on various display screens across the country. You basically have to know all three names to find your flight.

Interesting, but not wholly unexpected. I wonder in a year's time how many of these routes will still be around and what the process would be to change frequency or the US gateway. For example, can AS carry a daily load from LAX year round? Will CLT-HAV stick?

Range wise, probably. But the economics of the plane probably would make the flight unsustainable today, even with fuel being low. LH would opt for a newer jet to operate the route, if they feel the route would be worthwhile.
