Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

I cant see LAX-JFK-LAX being reduced to 5x weekly, it needs to be daily to attract the biz traffic. Even during the GFC, and QFs own downturn JFK always remained daily. QF have already announced that 4x B789s will be BNE based, so a 3x weekly ORD and 2x weekly LAX isn't enough flying for 4x frames. ...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

With the 2 QF A380s being freed up from March 2018 once QF9/10 becomes B789, obviously 1 will be used to replace the A330 on the QF35/36 MEL-SIN run, has any announcement or update come through regarding the use of the second A380? Also QF stated they were looking at a new Asia route for the spare A...

Re: QF changes SYD-DXB-LHR back to SYD-SIN-LHR from 25th March 2018

Your forgetting QF also get the benefit of EK pax booking on QF international services:

SYD-SIN
BNE-SIN
MEL-SIN
PER-SIN
SYD-BKK
SYD-AKL (EK have handed all this flying over to QF)
BNE-AKL
MEL-AKL
PER-AKL
SYD-CHC
BNE-CHC
MEL-WLG
SYD-WLG
SYD-ZQN

Surely QF get a fair benifit from this?

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2017

The problem with CDG is it doesn't allow the aircraft to be rotated with the existing BNE-LAX-JFK flights. It also doesnt help the massive short fall in seats changing from B744 to B789. Thats why my guess is another USA destination say DFW, both the LAX and DFW would arrive in BNE early in the morn...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2017

My guess for the 4 BNE based B789s: The first 2: BNE-LAX-JFK-LAX-BNE will switch from B744 to B789, this will also enable aircraft rotation on the return through LAX with the MEL based B789s (QF96) The second 2: BNE-DFW-BNE, this will pick up some of the capacity short fall by the replacement of the...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2017

To configure a few A332s to pure international with proper crew rest will require a decent investment of capital and would have been announced in the financial results last week.

HND switching to A380 requires both frames to operate daily.

My prediction.... EBG/EBL will be upgraded to domestic config with existing IFE ripped out and ipads in Y. Simply to expensive to fit new Y seats/IFE and crew rest etc. The 2 spare A380s will operate SYD-HKG and MEL-HKG daily, thus freeing up an A333 to take over the PEK flying from EBG/EBL, even wi...

Looks like the QF73/74 SYD-SFO-SYD has also had a time adjustment now leaving SYD later at 17:55 and leaving SFO earlier at 20:35.

This now spreads QFs SYD-USA departures throughout the day:

LAX: 11:30
DFW: 14:40
SFO 17:55

Ok looks like the QF schedule updates are still coming through...

QF127/128 has been retimed to leave SYD at 0930am daily using A333s

QF117/118 will be daily B744 (A380 during peek periods)

This makes more sense...

Does anyone else think that China is not the answer to VAs woes? China is already a very well served market, and low yielding at times, hence why QF only fly daily to PVG and PEK. I wonder how long until SYD-KIX-SYD becomes year round?

I have also heard QF are looking at:

*Making PER-AKL-PER a year round service once PER-LHR starts
*B73Hs to operate a overnight MEL-DPS-MEL (Similar to the SYD-DPS-SYD service)

Anyone heard this?

1x of the freed up A380s will pretty much be used to fund the planned A380 cabin refurbs.

The other one will probably do the daily SYD-HKG-SYD replacing the B744.

The HKG switch and B789s doing the QF95/QF96 will allow both older B744s OJM/OEB to be retired.

The negotiations include combining QFs international and domestic ops under one roof in Perth.

So the connection "nightmare" won't exist.

QF currently codeshare on Jet Airways services to New Delhi and Mumbai. These flights connect nicely with QF flights via SIN.

You can now have lie flat biz all the way from Australia to India with the QF/9W codeshare:
