I am flying SEA to LHR this fall, back early October. For business class it was cheap compared to BA from SEA or YVR and LH from YVR. As I have no problem flying out SEA it was a no brainer, price was almost half.
Jump to postThank you for that wonderful tip, ORD has been confusing as hell to find the ride share pick up area.

As i have already flown 7 return flights on WN this year, i like their boarding process. I admit I pay the extra $25 for being in the A group but if I was flying economy on AA or DL i would be paying much more than that for the exit row, so it is a win win. As i had never flown them extensively sinc...
Jump to postI was one of them, even being there at 5;30am, the place was packed. Kudos to the staff at TSA, super organized and no problem through with Pre-Check. Very nice airport.

On my last flight from DFW to PSP with AA on 737 MAX, a very heavy set woman was brought onto our plane with a wheelchair. They had given her, all 3 seats in the back, row 24 or something like that. As i am tall and do not squish myself anymore, i was sitting in a 2A. An AA station manager and 3 men...
Jump to postAs i left PSP on Tuesday with WN, the announcer said WN to San Jose soon. FYI, the flight from PSP to OAK was almost 100% sold.

Their old livery was very nice, but they needed to get people talking about them especially in their destination cities. Now when this plane lands in Vancouver, Seattle or Phoenix, people will ask who they are and when it comes time to book a vacation maybe it will stick when the name Condor comes u...
Jump to postJust to be different shortest regional flight on a widebody. 192 miles Heraklion to Athens on a 747 in 1995, needless to say Olympic Airways is no longer around.

My first flight was YVR to AMS in 1974, i was 9. If i recall it was a DC8 CP Air. I have some pictures showing us kids sitting on the floor in front of parents seats in Economy. Leg room was not an issue in those days, smoking was. I recall us 3 kids all got air sick, something you hardly see these ...
Jump to postWho can forget Wardair service in Canada, between Vancouver and Toronto. Served on fine china in economy in the late eighties and early nineties.

Jump to postCrazy, hopefully with vaccine rollout, things can start to open up.
Jump to postA big fan USPS, not been impressed with DHL and FedEx has lots of delays as well. My problem, many our shipments are 500 - 2000 kg, so might be getting bumped because of space limitations. The real problem, not enough regular flights (LH, BA, AC etc) in the air.
Jump to post2nd Pfizer shot, arm a bit more sore than last time, but otherwise nothing else.
Jump to postJust got my first Pfizer shot 4 days ago, just a sore arm for 2 days and a slight headache, but not 100% sure of the headache is because of the shot.
Next shot in 2-1/2 weeks, hopefully the same.

Oh I remember flying economy YVR to LHR on the 777 with AC, having a competition with my wife and daughter who would pay the lowest. I won, but in hindsight seating almost in the last row in economy, waiting for the food, having people standing beside my seat, waiting for the bathroom, I think I los...
Jump to postHeathrow has never been great, nothing better than standing for hours at end with low ceilings and no air movement. I heard JFK was/is bad as well.
Jump to postFor large corporate travel, I see them delaying travel especially when bean counters see the amount of money that they have "saved". For smaller companies, like mine, that do not have name recognition, the way we introduce our products is through trade shows. How often have we done trade s...
Jump to postThank you for that, sometimes you need a chuckle.
Jump to postI will be using that PSP to LAS flight, as I hate that drive and to drive to ONT is a little far.
Jump to postVery interesting, as I usually fly 3x BLI to PSP as well as BLI to LAS 1-2x year. As a Canadian resident, not at the moment, but looking forward to flying LUV as I usually fly G4 for these specific routes. Southwest is going after G4, interesting times ahead.
Jump to postAs my home airport is YVR, and we do not receive much snow, this reminds me of an incident quite a few years ago. I was on an AC flight YVR to PEK and it was snowing a wet type of snow here in Vancouver. We went to the deicing station, got sprayed and as I looked at the wings, I thought there is sti...
Jump to postI like this, angled lie flat seat, really like it. Always like the old AC herringbone, hated the BA coffin style seating, almost creepy. Way to mix things up JetBlue.
Jump to postAGREE, this government decision just reinforces my belief that as much as we look to rely on governments for governance and standards, they literally can screw up almost everything. My hope was the approach done by Alberta in regards to Covid testing on arriving passengers would become the norm, but...
Jump to postI liked TXL, close to the city and the way each security gate was right there, zero walking. I guess it belongs to a different time.
Jump to postI think there is going to pressure on the Canadian government to loosen things up regarding quarantine and/or testing. Up till now there was hardly any pressure on the government from Canadians, the weather in Canada during spring and summer is great and our natural surroundings make it no chore at ...
Jump to postThough my home airport is YVR, I think I am going to reroute on my return from the US through YYC and now book a trip to PSP for Christmas. My wife just came back last week as we had to check on our house down south and is doing the 14 days isolation. After 7 days, she is bored, as she sleeps in th...

Jump to postAnother factor regarding LAX and also SFO, is that for Canadians flying to PSP, this one of the few options as direct flights are not an option right now, though November will probably be different.
Jump to postGreat trip report. Though personally I will be happy they are gone. I did many flights years ago AA YVR-SJC-DFW, a long and loud flight with a stop in SJC as it could not make it there in one shot. As well as BLI-LAS or BLI-PSP with Allegiant.
Jump to postI still recall flying on an LH 747-200 in the mid 1990s and they still had three officers in the cockpit. In those where the days they would leave the door open and if you were in the bubble in the old first class seats you could have a fantastic view over there shoulders through the door while sitt...
Jump to postAlways like a good performing plane, did a couple of legs YVR to MEX, Air Canada was using them on that flight up to recently, If you had the emergency window exit seat, you had a good 8' of leg room, perfect seat at a great price.
Jump to postI was in Calgary this summer and the amount of German tourists there was crazy. Off to the Rockies and either back to Calgary or on to Vancouver and back to Germany.
Jump to postI agree with many of the comments and I am in the fortunate position that I can pay a bit "more" if I have to and I also know some people do not have this option. As YVR is my home airport, I do make some of these decisions already such as I refuse to book AC to ORD as they now use a regio...
Jump to postSeveral people have made reference to the increasing costs of HMVs as an airplane ages. My response: so what? Its still several tens of millions of dollars less than a new airplane and the engines/fuel burn are essentially unchanged comoared to a new CFM56 powered variant. I find myself wondering w...
Jump to postLet us be realistic, I have not been on a good AC branded flight in decades. The last one was business class to Beijing and the staff were all ex Canadian and that is over 12 years ago. Since that time I avoid AC like the plague, taking BA to Europe, CX to Asia and either DL or AA to the US. If I ne...
Jump to postSeasonally YVR - PSP as well.
Jump to postNot a bad idea of getting rid of First as BA does not seem to want to put in the effort for a real first class expierence. I have been upgraded from Club World to First and could not tell any difference between hard and soft product on that long haul.
Jump to postI remember decades ago taking a flight DUS - LHR - YVR where in London they would open the side doors after refueling and catering. Why not just open the side doors for air?
Jump to postI recall that initially it was a slow start with the 777, BA was on board to name one airline that purchased them. But 1500 planes, that is a lot. Just flew a 777 with Cathay on Friday, HKG - YVR.
Jump to postNice trip report. I flew Delta for the first time last week, YVR to ATL in their First product. I was pleasantly surprised, food was great and service excellent. AA can learn something from Delta.
