Re: Replacement of the Swiss Airbus A340-300

The (remaining) 343 are newly refurbished and will not be replaced any time soon. There will be a group-wide order for 2022-2026 for all of LH Group 343, 772(OS), maybe the oldest 333 and EW's 332 (they are leased). Yes, that way they will get a much better price and also they can standarize the di...

Too bad. The core of this project was more than restoration but rather the German-American relationship. I wonder why they decided to remove Americans from the project and continue in Germany?

Will be part of a larger LH Group order to address future fleet needs at LH, LX, OS, etc. I predict a split order of B789/J and A359/K, about 15-20 each for all three airlines.

Boeing updated their LH product page to feature the revised livery (just not on the header image): http://www.boeing.com/commercial/customers/lufthansa/ Boeing seem to have misplaced the Kranich in those renderings - too high on the tail, like the previous livery. I must say, LH is one of the most welly managed airlines in the world. Their success is definitely reflected on their product. Teutonic efficiency. It's almost scary! Re: Boeing 797 Discussion Thread - 2018

That's the intriguing engine question for Boeing. Sure GE wants to be exclusive on the 797, why not? But what if PW gets it right on the geared turbo fan and starts doing their PiP's and upgrade in terms of temperatures, pressures, lighter fan blades etc. GE / RR are behind on geared fans. And ther...

I think the subtext is that the 797 design is more or less firmed and internally the US3 (primarily) are jockeying for launch customer pricing and terms. Hence, UA's appeal to the public and the general chatter we are hearing from CEOs considering the 797.

I contend LH group will do a split order: About 30 B789/78J for LX and OS. About 30 A339/A359/A35K for LH mainline. They will stick with 20 B779 as a 1:1 B744 replacement but don't expect more in the short term until they retire the B748/A388 if there is no NEO for the latter. LH might be a launch c...

I am thinking, at a minimum, Boeing is gathering QF, DL, if not the entire US3 to make them all launch customers. If Boeing is going to commit to this project, it is going to be with big names attached. Conversely, the ball will then be in Boeing's court to deliver or fail miserably.

The market, and Boeing, have to wait until there is a suitable engine for the job, offering the mix of thrust and efficiency. As for MOM not covering the 737/757: makes perfect sense to me. What if we continued that yellow line and ran it forward in a wavy fashion towards the nose, maybe with some blue accents, like United? And then put yellow cranes on the engines?
