The biggest problem with the CA high speed rail project was the convoluted route. SF-LA via Palmdale made no sense, added to the cost and the running time. If you have time on your hands, go to http://www.calrailnews.org/archive/ and read what TRAC, a group of rail advocates, wrote about this project.

I hate that we have degenerated to to such a sue-happy society, but I truly despise all this nickel-and-diming on the part of the airlines. Airlines should charge one honest fare and cool it with the nickel-and-diming. I kind of want this suit to succeed simply due to my disgust with the fees.

I hate government regulation, but airlines should go back to charging one honest fare and do away with the nickel-and-dime fees. Also, fees deprive the government of ticket tax revenue, which is charged on the base fare. This screws Southwest.

I was under the impression that the economics of small turboprop aircraft didn't work out. It's hard to spread out the costs among the relatively few passengers on these small aircraft.
