Dear All - anyone with an up to date list of intra Euro Widebodies ? From now, running thru the summer ?
Based at LHR so that would be of particular interest. BA seem to have cut all ! IB run a daily MAD-LHR-MAD. TK IST also.
Other than that ..... open to ideas ! Many thanks.
Epic report ! So enjoyable. I'm planning a couple of "TP Runs" on QR ex EU next year so many thanks !
Jump to postGreetings - Work was taking me to Dublin. Aer Lingus are using their new A321neoLR once a day on the route in between hops across the Atlantic, so this was to be the chariot to take me on the short hop to Dublin. Having pledged my allegiance to BA it was a rare outing from LHR T2. Arrived at 0730 fo...
Jump to post@mke717spotter - Many thanks ! Yes the A350 is superb. I reported on here, my BA A350 flights to MAD. Out in Y & back in J. Try to grab a ride on that if you can ! Cheers.
Jump to postIt was time to fly another European widebody. It was the BA460 1250-1615 & return BA461 1745-1915. I had flown this aircraft/rote before but being as I'm based at LHR, a spare day & some Avios to burn, just for fun, I booked Club Europe - same aircraft. Previous aircraft I'd flown on this ro...
Jump to postIt was time to try another widebody around Europe. I'd noticed IB were randomly using the A359 into LHR again so this was to be the one. Arrived at MAD on a clear crisp morning. Snow capped mountains could be seen all around MAD in the distance : https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49167883793_0df1a...

Didn’t manage to catch the first round of MAD flights on the 350, but am booked on an October one, looking forward to it.
Cheers

Thanks for the report. I do have to say that i find the interior very very bland and grey. Could have given some more "personal" tocuhes, it looks very generic now. Yes I know what you mean. Some would say bland, some you say classy. When the blue mood lighting is on it does actually look...
Jump to postFor me the day had finally arrived ! A new aircraft with new on board product. The much anticipated Club World Suite was here on the A351 and flying, for crew familiarisation, to Madrid. Flights were booked somewhat hopefully (based on the knowledge of another forum) as upto three days before was st...
Jump to postdebonair wrote:I did it in February, arriving on EW and connecting to PRG on Sichuan Airlines. At the transfer counter I was told to go straight to the gate for checkin and I wasn't the only one. No problem at all.
Have flown this route a few times in CE on 777 & 789. The Club World cabin absolutely gets used for Club Europe bookings. A good way to experience this long haul seat/cabin. No pillows/blankets/IFE but full meal service of course. One time having booked in Y I was able to select seats in Y+ whic...
Jump to postNot a WB but very much of interest is the EI A321neoLR now bookable around Europe with full long haul cabin. Flat Beds in Business available between DUB-LHR !! A bit pricey but will be looking at this.
Jump to postFrom a realiable source : BA have been inquiring with several stations with regards to short haul flights utilizing the A350 and their ability to handle them. This includes Domestic stations. So expect to see more than just MAD for trials. Apparently, unlike the 787/A380 introduction, the BA pilots ...

Highly recommended for anyone wanting to try it. Great flight.
A lot of great ideas - thanks all ! The A343 flights are very tempting. Once the BA A351 arrives I will be burning some Avios in J to MAD & reporting on here ! Cheers TAP is believed to schedule A340-300 between LHR-LIS this summer... Do you know when or which flights? I can only find A330s on ...

Have flown on their 787 MAD-TFN so not actually long haul but can tell you the cabin is decent, good seat, good IFE as it should be in a new aircraft. Much different to the A330 BCN-MAD I also took. Have heard good & bad about UX. If you’re travelling long haul for sure try to get on the 787’s o...
Jump to postMost of USA have these eclectic mix of aircraft types. Does seem a bit all over the place right now. 787 issues dont help I guess.
I am booked in March on BOS-LHR which has just changed from A388 (I booked for that type) to B744 - only good thing is I'm now upper deck CW 747 !
Yes TP LIS-VIE - forgot that. Cheers. As a one off I also did the LX 77W ZRH-LHR in J last year.
Did Korean used to have a tag on somewhere ?
Aer Lingus A330 on the DUB-AGP this summer. As for this as EI has no business in Europe you can get the flat beds, international business for just an extra legroom seat cost on ALL economy fares. @george77300 - thanks so much for all this info. Will be looking at some of these. Forgot to mention I ...
Jump to postDear All just looking for some fun flying within Europe on widebodies please ? Apart from the usual ones below all of which I've taken : BA 777 LHR-MAD - think this is finishing after March/April ? Ooops Oh no sorry - you’re with the Mrs !
Dont think it would happen now due costs (Fuel/crew placement etc ...) The best you can get now will be one ticket flying one alliance but different carriers !
Jump to postNice report - always nice to get a new widebody on this short flight. TG J class does look nice. Well done !
Jump to postWho is the market for this airline? Point to point? If it's no longer picking up DXB-LHR passengers. Surely Brunei isn't a major hub for Australia or New Zealand? That's a long way to fly on a Dry airline (not that it should be primary reason for flying of course but still).... Sorry if I come acro...
Jump to postWho is actually flying this route ? This must be a limited market ?!? Don’t know anyone who has been to Brunei or transited through there. With the number of Brits who holiday in UAE (including & have taken BI, me) this dropping of DXB does surprise me. Even with multiple EK/BA/VS competition on...
Jump to postNice report. I took TUi Dreamliner to PMI & yes absolutely agree, always better flying a long haul aircraft short haul !
Jump to postNice TR, I was tempted to book the same flight - but having experienced ALWAYS last minute fleet changes on IB, I decided no to go! Looking fwd to the Hainan TR - I was booked on Hainan as well, but just received an email, that Hainan will discontinue the service... :cry2: So maybe you are the luck...
Jump to postVery nice! I love the novelty of snagging a longhaul configured aircraft on shorthaul routes such as this. With LHR-MAD having 346/777/789 lately it's increasingly easy to do as well. A friend of mine leaps on these flights every couple of months or so. Yep me too. I have previously taken the BA B7...
Jump to postSpeedalive wrote:Awesome report! There's something about the A346. Such a beautiful plane! I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to fly the 350 in the future!
It was time to try another widebody around Europe. When IB announced they were using the A350 to LHR I knew I had to try. With some Avios to burn the booking was confirmed for a quick LHR-MAD-LHR run in J on their new A350-900. A couple of weeks had passed when upon checking my booking the aircraft ...
Jump to postYes I guess so although it’s only MEL they fly to and I’ve never known anyone go vacation in Brunei or connect to other Asian cities (BKK/HKG/SIN ... etc) through BWN. I still find it a bit of a mystery about who will actually fly BI. At least DXB-LHR-DXB is pretty much busy year round ! I’m sure se...
Jump to postGood report - I flew this route couple of years ago & whilst not being wow’d I enjoyed the flights with BI. I am very surprised about dropping the DXB stop - even with a lot of competition on that route surely that DXB stop was winner for them ?!? No ?? Will also become one of the longest flight...
Jump to postAlso - the ex-EU fares are great - right ?? Ive got one booked for early next year !
Jump to postReally good report with stunning pics of Venice. As a BA Silver always nice to pictures of F Wing & Flounge - something I've not yet been able to use ! And despite a lot of grumblings I always enjoy BE CE & with catering upgrade coming should make this a very pleasant experience. Cheers
Jump to postNice report. But any cabin pictures ?? Always makes any report that much better. Would really like to see ! I’ve been looking at doing this one also.
Jump to post@ilyagran - Agree Agree Agree !
Jump to postGreat report. I think all your points are valid & correct about the seat & service. I’m probably in the minority but I’m a big BA CW fan. Like everything about it. Just hope direct aisle access is introduced in the A350 ?!? Cheers
Jump to postBrilliant report ! I have the IB A350 coming up in a few days - cannot wait ! LHR-MAD.
Was also eyeing up those Jet2 A330’s around Europe - will have to try one for trip reporting purposes.
Good report. As much as anyone could love Y flying I think BA is good as anything ! Seat, food, IFE, crew - big BA fan. Cheers
Jump to postNice report BUT pictures not showing for me. Would really like to see. Anyone else ?
Jump to postNice report, well written and good photos. Always nice to get a widebody on a short flight !
Thank you.
Not sure what they actually expected but this is economy flying. I also just flew BA upper deck SIN-LHR, good comfort seat, side bin, good IFE, the food was decent. G&T, wine. You would do well to beat BA in Y tbh !
Jump to postRE : crossing the Welsh coast : “We didn't and I didn't write that anywhere”
You may want to check again and re-label a picture as it’s clearly stated under a photo of a coastline (In the linked report I meant) It’s there !
Great report. Flew the TG 74’s many times out of LHR. Always good service also. Cheers
Jump to postOne question : ARN-LHR how did you manage to cross the Welsh coast ?!?
Jump to postNice report. My last few BA CE flights I must say have all been superb. Much like your experience here. I am LHR based but BA, I think is a step above. Big fan ! Cheers
