N140LL one of the last two 767-300s finally heading for retirement?

Speaking of the DirecTV announcement, I flew on N76523 sunday, a 737-800 with DTV still installed and the TVs were turned off the whole flight and the aircraft had Personal Device Entertainment. It seems UA may be keeping the TV's installed and just adding PDE.Jump to post
So SAN powers turned down WN request to take over the majority of the T1E Gates in favor of relocating others to T1E. WN will gain 2 additional gates for a total of 3 now and remain using gates 1A,1B and 2. New T1 is delayed because of political issues with bringing the Trolley line into the airpor...Jump to post
United got in those cheeky jabs early with SFO and LAX flights, but Singapore Air is having the last laugh, they got the US on lock going to Singapore. Riiiiiight... SQ has US-SIN on lock which is precisely why UA is operating 2 daily flights to SIN from SFO. While it is true that UA dropped LAX-SI...Jump to post
As a network discussion topic, I would like to know UA's strategy with placing 752's on a lot of transcon routes this year out of EWR/IAD. Specifically stations like PHX/SEA/SAN/LAS-EWR/IAD. I wonder if this will stay year round to maybe compete with jetBlue Mint.Jump to post

I’m going away for a while. Going to give that island life a try. I look forward to returning to a more mature SAN sometime in the future.
Gate 46 and 47 will be the first gates in San Diego to have hydra fuel lines installed under the gates eliminating fuel trucks. Finally, our airport is becoming modern and standard. Gate 47 will become another 747/787/A350 capable gate. https://i.ibb.co/JxDpVY1/20181113-134212-1.jpg https://i.ibb.co...Jump to post
Interesting development with UA here. Another topic in this forum on UA flight attendant bases has UA establishing one here. Wonder if that means increased presence for UA at SAN? Hope so! To the best of my knowledge, SkyWest has a crew base here which at least AS uses. I don't know if that would i...Jump to post
Last night I was on a UA 772 from EWR to BRU. I was in Polaris and not the new seats. But, the aircraft inside was almost like new. Even the person I was flying with was surprised when I told him that this plane will soon be gutted and refurbished. The old side by side seat was in near perfect cond...Jump to post
What about Delta on CDG or AMS? Very good question! If I have been keeping up with this business correctly through a.net and my other sources, the main reason it is British Airways and Lufthansa/Edelweiss Air flying these routes is because of who the flights are primarily marketed for: Europeans. A...Jump to post
Hey red' , thanks as always for the great pix of the latest at SAN. I've got a couple of questions. There wasn't a gate 50A when the Green Build opened; there were 50 and 51 (the last gate, with the glass bridge, used by HA, etc.) Have they actually renamed those gates at the west end, or somehow i...Jump to post
As a UA MP, this is great news on upgrade to IAW/EWR. The flatbeds and more capacity to east coast is long overdue. Most of UA's 737's outta SAN are sold out and cramped at times. I miss the old days when UA had lots of 757's to most of their hubs. Obviously will never see that again with poor fuel...Jump to post
United will start implementing international 757s with flatbed seats on the SAN-EWR/IAD routes starting October 4th to compete with JetBlue's Mint product. The airport has starting re striping the old international gates 20-24 for Alaska and have been downgraded from 747s to 737s/A320s size. Almost ...Jump to post
I would like to see DEN-LHR go year round for UA. That extra seasonal EWR flight is not needed. Light loads are common during the winter. Rumors here said that UA was actually considering a second European destination but there has been radio silence on that very recently. DEN-LHR is already filed ...Jump to post
What are those 2 788’s having done to them in HKG & XMN? Thanks They're in for A-checks I believe, somebody asked this previously. I think you may be mistaken, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but aren't most A-checks done every 8 weeks? UA is not sending 787s to HKG/XMN every 8 weeks f...Jump to post
763: N675UA entered MIA 2759/8Sep, what the chances High Premium Polaris/PE is being installed at MIA? Vs. 2 class units, looks like only seating is being changed, no lavs or galley movement. N674UA has been in MIA since 7/2 and in numeric sequence with N675UA. 788: N26902 sked to exit HKG 2790/9Se...Jump to post
Channel 9 is aparently alive and well...I'm listening to it on UA20. I know UA at one point was going to try and integrate it into the streaming system. Any progress on that? UA20 IAH-AMS? A subCO aircraft shouldn't have channel 9 just yet! Anywho, N647UA is gonna try once again 05SEP back to the m...Jump to post
So...following this now... I was originally lead to believe that for the 767-300's... The 2 Class 763 (Pre Polaris) were NOT going to be refitted and going to be retired or something...and the 3 Class 767-300 would get Polaris.. Now...is it going to be 2 Class 763 is going to the High J, Low Densit...Jump to post
787s will obviously be the last planes to get the Polaris mod except the 78Js. Mods should be done by End of 2020. First Diamond 767 to be converted to the High J "Low-Density" configuration should start January 2019. Any word on how many high-J 767s the company is planning? 14, right now...Jump to post
I just landed at EWR, I had to walk the length of the entire 3rd Y shaped concourse and saw one 764 after another boarding for European destinations. I know this has been discussed many times before but I’m not sure I ever read about a final decision. What is UA going to do with these rare birds th...Jump to post
Can anyone confirm plane 2131 (N2331U) is in SFO for the PP retrofit. Is SFOMX doing the retrofit? The plane was in for STC work. I can't find what kind of work was performed. UA media production was doing some work in the plane as well. Could be good news that the retrofit is done on the plane and...Jump to post
I believe most of the current two class , non Polaris, 763s were previously domestic aircraft for pre-merger UA. The first 14 were, then 7 previously 3 class intl were also converted. I don’t understand: will all remaining 763’s ultimately get the high premium configuration as the 3 Hawaiian 763’s?...Jump to post
787-8 slated too start UPP (United Premium Plus) and Polaris mod June 2019 and should be done by May 2020. 787-9 will begin August 2019, and end August 2020.
First 77W should begin retrofit August 5th for UPP. I believe 2131 willl be the first ship.
The next board meeting isn't until next week but some milestones for the FIS project are in the materials. Some of this isn't new but it's nice to have it all in one place. • Construction, Phase 1 Completion: June 2018 • FIS Build-out Phase 1 Construction: 68% complete • Gates 48 & 49 reopened ...Jump to post
LH was "delayed" due to flight crew the other day...the plane was towed to North Ramp where it overnighted. LH uses contract workers above the wing, and below the wing, no united workers. FIs will begin July 1st, 2018 with all Intl carriers coming over and utilizing the new Facility. Gate ...Jump to post
N105UA was "Sold" and ferried to Maxton, North Carolina. Think its due to the scrapper? Her last flight was October 29th, 2017 SFO-VCV.

I've spoken about the possibility that AAG might create a tarmac-level boarding concourse for EMJs -- and whatever remains of Q400 service -- creating an additional boarding position or two in order to better use the large amount of real estate used by gates 20-22. (Similar to what they have at PDX...Jump to post
One thing that I wonder now is why is AS waiting so long to move? AFAIK, the old (current) FIS facilities in T2E will be empty/closed as of this coming July 1. That means 5-6 months before AS takes over that area (gates 20-22); could AS be planning to do something 'special' with that space? I've sp...Jump to post
T2W FIs project expected to be in service by July 1st, 2018. Suppose to be complete in June 2018. Japan, British, and Westjet will all move to T2W utilizing the new FIs Wouldn't that also include Edelweiss, Lufthansa, and Air Canada moving to T2W also? Or will the Old FIs stay in operation too? From what it looks like upon my close examination... it looks like Sheldon the Turtle (N210FR). The tail side was back-lit so it was pretty tough to tell what animal tail it was. After seeing pictures of the tail art, it is definitely N210FR in the video. According to Flightaware, the last time N21...Jump to post
I understand this is the wide body fleet thread for Delta, but I don't a more appropriate thread to ask this question at so here it goes. Where is DL sending their 757s to now? Since January 3rd or so, Delta has subbed all 757s from DTW/ATL/MSP-SAN routes for A321s. We now see 1 daily 757 on the day...Jump to post
Looks like Gate 48 will be re striped to allow longer aircraft's into the gate. Im guessing A340-600 for LH encase of a unexpected Sub and A35J parking. I'm not too sure with gate 50 at this time. I'm hoping we see more 787s (788s or 789s in the mix). Also, did anyone hear about WOW air subbing an ...Jump to post
Unfortunate that Hainan or another Asian Carrier hasn't been announced yet. The FIs will be complete relatively soon and will be in commission with state of the art facilities. That should've attracted some airlines I would think. Minor work has been in full speed around gate 48 and gate 50. Looks l...Jump to post
