WN PDX-SFO DEC 3>0 JAN 3>0 FEB 3>0 WN SFO-SNA DEC 5>0 JAN 6>0 FEB 6>0 I’m surprised WN is cutting these two routes from SFO. Granted they serve both from OAK and SJC, but means they’re ceding the routes at SFO to UA and AS. Too much competition? Not enough O&D to sustain them? IIRC WN’s route o...Jump to post
Would love to see PDEW stats on SIN-USA. UA didn’t do so bad on the two routes they cut (relatively speaking!). I knew the loads to the 2nd tier cities was bad, but WOW! These are also routes that are only flown 2-3 times per week generally which makes it even worse. I would also expect the loads on WUH-SFO to be far lighter considering th...Jump to post
International Carriers By Airport (Only passengers, not counting cargo) (For this list Avianca is counted separately from Avianca El Salvador or Avianca Brasil, etc.) This is what I counted, sorry if I made a mistake somewhere. ^^^ It amazes me how many people go to Hawaii for vacation. It’s treated as the ‘Holy Grail’ of places to go for so many Americans... I’ve never quite figured this out. It’s not exotic at all. Weather is good, and lots of beaches, sure. But what is the huge draw that fills all these flights day in ...Jump to post

A few more examples of the Platinum US3 customer service... This is certainly not unique to American carriers. I have witnessed shockingly poor customer service on BA, KL and LH recently as well. Moreover if you want to see some incredibly poorly behaved European crews, try running a hotel that hos...Jump to post
It’s amusing here to see the comments that are obviously being posted by other flight attendants. This guy did nothing to indicate he was entitled or a difficult customer. Is UA not flying the 77W out of IAH this summer? I also saw a 77W in DEN last week but I'm positive it was a one-off.
And being present in YVR means nothing for soembody in SEA. YVR also doesn't even have all that great of a connection network to the USA. There were 18 flights SEA-YVR yesterday including several that made reasonable MCT onto the CX departure YVR-HKG. SEA-HKG just isn't YVR-HKG or LAX-HKG. There we...Jump to post
I think most airlines recognize the need to serve certain destinations for certain reasons whether they are profitable or not. I doubt every route in the DL system turns a profit. It is difficult to understand that a major airline that wants to have a major presence in Asia would not serve HK... obv...Jump to post
United SFO-TLV went from a thrice-weekly 788 to a daily 77W within about a year and a half. Now EL Al will enter the market with a 789 starting May, 2019.Jump to post

Austrian and LOT should come online once gate space becomes available. Not much room on the G side for additional carriers unless they want to operate off-peak. Also OAK has a few unique destinations that should be included as it’s in the catchment area: TER, BCN, FCO, LGW, BCN, ARL and OSL. 20 Euro...Jump to post
While I am not doubting that BA's SJC loads aren't great (although I would imagine J did well from SJC but maybe not see below), I would think they stopped SJC during their 787 issues because pax could get rerouted to SFO. While a pain for some, I would imagine many won't complain and those that re...Jump to post
UA put all its eggs in the SFO-Pacific market, moving its main hub operation there. If you fly into SFO regularly, you know the unreliability of that airport. When I worked at UA, feeder flights into SFO were delayed by hours, or cancelled, almost daily. I spent my morning reaccommodating transpaci...Jump to post

SFO has proposed moving 28R into the bay to allow for dual runway use(the 28s are currently too close if the weather goes bad or it’s night time); however, the local environmentalists oppose the plans and the last time it was proposed, protests were all over City Hall and people chained themselves ...Jump to post
I’m sure the service will continue to be awesome. The best thing about flying HA is that the vacation starts at the airport. The TN flight is timed to force you to stay on the big island and spend extra money there. TN has multiple PPT-LAX-PPT flights, and there is zero need to spend the night in Papeete unless you desire. Which is the precise reason cities like DFW, ATL and IAH have fewer foreign carriers compared to some other peer U.S. cities. It's not because of the domination of AA at DFW or DL at ATL. If you measured it by 777s that were delivered before the last 747-400 delivered, that would be the majority of the 777-200s. I worked the first revenue flight of a 747-400 in late-1999, and I believe we took frames into 2000. In 2000 we were in the process of getting the 6 2-class 777s for the hub...Jump to post

For one of the highest priced places to live in the US only SJC has a very nice modern airport to offer. Both OAK and SFO are stuck in the Cold War era.
