The current issues Boeing is facing are development, production and quality isuees. I can't see how a new 737 successor will solve any of these issues.

LHR doesn't need two at the moment, let alone three. Even with current traffic LHR needs two runways to provide a reliable service in case one is out of service. For me the best looking commercial aircraft. The proportions are perfect and the duck down forward pitch due to the shorter front gear just shouts 'let me go'.

I don't have an issue with BA's short haul product. It is on long haul where they are falling behind. Some of the 747 interiors were literally falling apart (I know they are gone). The food is always the same and tasteless.

I bet airlines monitor very very closely what people search for on their online portals. Not saying they don't do this during normal times ... but I can't imagen any airline want to be caught out short on capacity when the traffic picks up.
