At present the only Caribbean destination served from LAX is NAS (by AS) I find it odd LAX-MBJ hasn’t been back and there’s no LAX-PUJ yet. The number one connection to the IST PTY flight is BOM. That should give you all an idea of the type of traffic it. Low yielding. Tulum isn’t about PTY-Yucatán O/D is about all the connecting traffic from GRU, EZE, SCL, LIM et al.
Why RDU and not CLT, CM might have studied that very well.
FLN makes sense, CWB won’t be happy, but CWB runway prevents CM from adding it to its network.

AA RDU-LHR becomes BA RDU-LGW (a new airport pair is a new route) and/or
CM PTY-RDU.
If one wants to describe AUS and RDU as similar markets, CM just started AUS and it’s doing well, while IMHO, my bet was on PTY-CLT, perhaps CM sees in RDU something that not many see.

I’d like to hear CWB’s reaction to CM to FLN. CM reason as of why FLN before CWB might have to do with CWB’s runway length. I wouldn't be surprised at all.
