Ah got it, can't wait for those bad boys. I am looking for ways to fly one ASAP, and Lufthansa's flights are on my radar haha.
Jump to postQuestion on aircraft the A359 will replace. What I've heard so far is that they will begin replacing the non ER 772s. Wouldn't it make more sense to deploy brand new airliners on international routes, such as the A359, and phase the 772ERs to replace the 772As? It seems to me to be a huge waste to d...
Jump to postThe 787 will be spectacular with that aircraft's windows and higher cabin pressure etc. I don't know how UA could do it, but the sooner the 787s that fly the ULH flights (with IAH/SYD coming) get the real hard product- United won't be the dread of the premium business flier any longer. But the 772'...
Jump to postLooking to book an AirAsia (Malaysia) ticket from KUL to HKG. Jump to post^My guess is that the MoM will replace the 19 non-ER 772s doing domestic runs.
Jump to postWas this to be used on LAX flights? Or am I totally off?
Jump to postInteresting, I found this online: First, outside air enters the airplane engine. Next, compressors within the engine compress this low-density air. Hot compressed air from the compressor (bleed air) is then transported via ducts to the A/C packs. Prior to entering the air conditioner units, the blee...
Jump to postReading up on this incident: http://avherald.com/h?article=4abd937a&opt=0 What would happen if this occurred 38,000 ft over the Pacific? How would they get the temperatures down? I know AC air comes in thru bleed valves, which is very hot air and has to be cooled down, correct? So I am guessing ...
Jump to postWell, Thandie Newton is hot, so they got my attention for those 40 seconds.
Jump to postThis article makes me want to fly Delta MORE than not...and I'm a United 1K 750K lifetime miles...
This is not a Delta PR issue.
Never thought I'd say I am now excited to fly a UA 767-300.
Jump to postTPG says the seats look narrower. Is he talking just about the tables or the actual Polaris seats (the part you actually sit on) narrower than the 77W ones? I thought they are standard sized across frames.

Jump to postWouldn't it make sense to convert 3 class 777s before 2 class 767s? Are 67s that in need?
Jump to postI have big hopes for the 10 max. I think with new landing gear and the fact they added more weight to the front of gear than back, it will be LESS prone to tail strikes and tipping than 739.
Jump to postSo has United mentioned anything about using the 737 MAX9/10 as Premium Transcontinental with BED SEATS in front? I would assume if the MAX 10 can easily make EWR/BOS to LAX/SFO that the few extra inches of the MAX would help a bit, perhaps 1 row of bed seats? I think the 757's are looking so old i...
Jump to postI'm always amazed why people on here love the 757 so much. As a pilot... amazing airplane in nearly every way. As a passenger... horrendous. Narrow cabin, seats, aisle, SUPER hot in the back in the summer, and fumigation during engine starts. I mean it's always been a pretty crappy plane to ride in...
Jump to postI think its much more interesting to view perspectives and talk about whether or not UA will get the A350, rather than argue about 6 inches on 737/A320 and the sounds they make. haha.
Jump to post@77H However the MAX models have a higher range than the 739ER NG. I think both the -9MAX and even -10MAX should have no problems reaching Hawaii at full load, even with headwinds. I may be wrong but I observe on Wikipedia the range of the -9MAX at 4045 miles and -10MAX at 3700 miles. Am I wrong in ...
Jump to postSure, but still, they had to have had some plan knowing the A350s are still on order. There is no way they blindly ordered the 77Ws just because they got a good deal on them. If one thing is clear, its that Jeff Smisek did a terrible job planning for UA's future needs. Hence why as soon as Scott Ki...
Jump to postUA ordered 77Ws because Boeing was offering them prices they could not refuse (to help fill out production until the 77X), they slot easily into the fleet (large 777 operator, already have twenty something GE powered 77Es), and they could get rid of the 747s even quicker than planned (simplify flee...
Jump to post3 Q3 2018, 1 Q4 2018...no one knows on 757 PS...I'd bank on MAX 9.
Jump to postWhen United entered bankruptcy they had a substantial number of A320 orders outstanding, 42 I believe. Early on during bankruptcy, the German development bank (which funded the loans for UA to buy the A320s) allowed United to restructure those loans to more friendly terms. In 2006, about a month be...
Jump to postI really hope they work something out that lets United see the A350s in later years, and not make a huge dent in their bank accounts (because I know as a customer, those fees will be passed on to me in some way). There is enough excitement at United right now with the new 787s, 77Ws, and MAXs. Hopef...
Jump to postHow do the negotiations work in this kind of case. UA has some pretty early slots for A35Js. Aren't there other airlines who would kill to take those slots? Jump to postDoes anyone know the actual cancellation fees for killing A35J order? Is this public shareholder info? As an almost UA MMiler I would LOVE to see UA fly A350. Jump to postTwo comments on the 757. Is it more predisposed to turbulence due to it's design. I fly weekly roundtrips LAX-EWR, and I seem to always experience turbulence in the 57s. Perhaps United?
I believe the following thread gives some explanation to 777 orders in general:

Interesting to think United may be one of the last carriers to operate 77Ws, if they run them for 25-30 years like they have their 757s.

Jump to postAwesome, awesome thread OP.
Jump to postIf UA is taking the rumored 8 additional frames, Why would UA order additional planes and not announce it? Jump to postI spoke with a United A350 maintenance instructor several weeks ago. He doesn't think United will be getting the A350. Jump to post99% means it has in 2.5yrs of service hit the reliability that the 787 reached in close to 6. I'm not a A/B fight fan, nor do I prefer either. This is just my personal perception. The 787 gives me the perception of a young, sick, patched up horse. While the A350 gives me the impression of a strong,...
Jump to postI saw this today as I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and was quite surprised to see 3 773 daily flights, 7 days a week. Jus curious, do any other Asian carriers serve LAX 3+ times daily, 7 days a week? Perhaps Korean, Asiana. Figured it could make a good conversation rather than going to search this...
Jump to postI wish UA would so some sort of rotation flights between all of its hubs in honor of 747s retiring. Some IAD/EWR/ORD-LAX/SFO.
Jump to postI could do a direct 15 hour flight, but have no problem 8hr + 14hr (often with a long layover) for the price and experience I get with Qatar and that is even with kids in tow. May I ask what the price difference is? It would have to be significant for me to go from non stop 15 hrs to a 24 hr + trip.
Jump to postLooks like the MAX 10 is a sealed deal, wonder who else is in line. Well, it won't be UA. According to some on here they are in the bag for the A321. Haha, and that second sentence is enough proof for me to think UA is in line for the 737-10. I bet they covert a lot if not all of their -9s on order...
Jump to postAugust 10th can't come soon enough so I can try Polaris so I can have some valid comments regarding comparison to other airlines.
