DFW-AMS is one route I struggle with. ORD was announced and dropped (911 plus UA and KL) no JFK/MIA, etc. it's a low yield market that KLM served and dropped! Yet this overflies ORD, JFK, and PHL.
Seems like this is toilet yield or connections not offered via LHR / JFK.
As mentioned above, geography is holding MIA-Asia nonstop service.
MIA is located perfectly for LatAm and has all the Euro beach traffic supporting U.K./EU airlines.
I would think that Detroit to India has potential. My question is why would the start service to a city where one of the ME3 already serves and covers India really better than Air India can and not add cities where they can have the whole market to themselves. ORD is a frequency market from LHR with significant F&J demand. BA and AA compliment each other. BA has mentioned ORD as a 380 destination, but the restrictions on 380 operations at ORD are the reason BA and EK don't send the whale there. Glad to see AA slightly increasing ORD! It's tough with the limited gate space and shift to mainline and bigger planes.
SEA-ORD will be a yield turn this fall. As mentioned above, AS is probably smart enough to not join the battle.
In the last 3 weeks SEA-ORD has picked of 7 flights:
UA: 2 (last week)
AA: 2 (this week)
AS, next week?
I wish AA would run ORD-GUA longer. Maybe UA will try this given there success (seasonal) to BZE, LIR, SJO, and Caribbean islands. There is some O&D from Chicago to GUA, but the market from Chicago is extremely seasonal (2x daily in winter, lucky for once a week in summer).Jump to post
