Here's another option: Go to Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden. Bring a xerox copier, borrow the text, copy, implement, raise taxes to pay for it. Job jobbed. As a Scandinavian, I would never wish that system upon any body. Not only is it extremely expensive for society (they are trying to figure ...Jump to post

As discussed in the criminal complaint back in 2003 against B6, the consent decree settlement fine is meant solely to drive compliance as court perceived B6 to have "no reasonable basis for believing carrier would comply with the city's law otherwise." I don't have all the data with me at home over the weekend, but as I recall historically JFK and NRT are the two longhaul routes with high(est) percentage of local O&D traffic flow. For the record I posted this information back in June (See reply 90). It turns out JFK route is 78% Turkey O&D...Jump to post
Seeing how much AA is investing in Flagship Lounges and gourmet dining before boarding 1st class my guess is it's paying off. ;) Remember Flagship lounge access is hardly only restricted to F class passengers (which there are very few). Flagship lounges are open customers on qualifying longhaul int...Jump to post
And how do you recommend to fix that when two of your main focus cities are in the northeast (JFK,BOS)? If it isn't the weather (thunderstorms in the summer and fall, snow/ice/rain winter and spring) then it's atc or extra long taxi times. I flew from JFK on Monday evening and departing the gate to...Jump to post

The consent decree goes back to 2003 for settlement of 30 counts of criminal charges filed against the carrier in superior court. It may be worth noting that LGB has gotten *A LOT* busier lately. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-long-beach-airport-passengers-20170808-story.html I'm sure more than a few folks in Long Beach have taken notice. Much thank to Southwest. Also JetBlue finally utilizing their slot holdings more ...Jump to post
This vendetta notion is nonsense. LGB simply wants B6 to follow the established rules. As far as Intl flights and FIS, the city has zero obligation to commit to such and has opted to retain the status quo. And as far as SWA slots, they were awarded per long established new entrant rules when slots b...Jump to post
Great result with respect to L/F and pax figures! I take it with a grain of salt though, since TK is massively involved in the charter business in AYT this year. They probably achieve close to 100% L/F on those ops while hardly making a penny in that business. What are your thoughts? The charter lo...Jump to post
The violations and the large recent spike is certainly all JetBlue's own doing.
Just looking at the schedule today, B6 has 5 flights timed within 30 mins of the curfew. Invariably something likely goes wrong near daily as result.
In a revision to a 2003 consent decree between Long Beach and Jetblue, the city prosecutor office announced this week that JetBlue officials had agreed to pay $6,000 fine all administrative noise ordinance violations. At one time these fines were negligible ($100-300) but were raised to $3,000 in 20...Jump to post

I'd say both routes will eventually be out of BUR. SInce the route is EAS, the only means to swap would be for the community to approve it. One of the incentives to move airports is cost. Many days handling at LAX cost more than the revenue on the airplane. This whole thread has really devolved into minutiae. Frankly who cares if a AA will make money on LAX-Asia or not. Aircraft gauge regularly gets swapped post DOT awards. Sometimes immediately, sometimes a few scheduling seasons down the road.
Look at DL, who went in promising 747s on its HND route to downgauge all the way to 767s. Both AA and UA similarly have changed gauge post DOT route award.
In DOT filing today, AA says it has the required slots to commence service between LAX and PEK. The MIA screening is rather a nuisance than much actual security.
