Of course, there is a market to LAX. TG served the market for 20-years with good loads, but as CEO stated they never profited.
The issue has always been about the client type, and quality of the revenue onboard, not demand.

UA's pre-tax operating income dropped from $1.6Bil in 2016 tp $1Bil in 2017. There is much more at play than estimated $185 million weather effect. Overall UA cost rose, and its yields dropped. Its being squeezed at both ends, which means it op margin went from 16.8% in '16 to 11.1 in '17. Not good.

Air service to smaller communities without the benefit of direct tie-in to a major carrier is a very hard thing to support even with a direct community financial subsidy.

Also in IYK case, the public has viable options of driving to BFL or LA basin airports to access the world.
