Re: Dallas Stars hockey charter aborts takeoff

I was hired by North Central Airlines in 1975 and of course was a CV-580 FO. NCA flew a lot of NHL charters as the 580 was right sized and quite fast for short/medium trips. One flight was taking home he Buffalo Sabres and the one FA was unfortunately a smallish male. After the flight took off the m...

My favorite plane to fly. TO performance, at time fuel efficient which meant great range. Landing performance was exceptional. Example: Landing at Midway RW 31 you could make the 4/22 turnoff with just less than moderate breaking. DC-9 (10s, 30s,40s, 50s), B727-200s could not do that except with hea...

I'm no aerodynamacist, but won't the larger size of the Neo engines have a more significant effect on the wake turbulance than their thrust which, as you say, is about the same for all types? Should be less, effectively same thrust is spread over a larger area. The velocity of the exhaust compared ...

I'm confused. A 440NM range so even a 250 NM flight cannot return. Does that mean the plane makes one flight then spends many hours recharging the battery? Or do a battery swap at each destination? Extra batteries at most destinations? Mechanics at those stations? How can they make any money?

I'm not aware of any project in the 50 seat range. In my opinion, the option is lower frequency service on larger aircraft. Due to the requirement if an ATP, higher benefits, and taxes, some airports just will not be viable. Some might see 9-seat turboprops for limited service. Perhaps a new 50 sea...
