Delta's newest plane will roll off the production line this year.Jump to post
Too bad he didn't do that in PHX today with a plane that had been on the ground an hour. Aero BBQ.Jump to post
While I don’t work for Southwest, I have seen IFP (Bullhead City-Laughlin). It’s definitely the “we know you’re going to get into LAS with no problems but we legally need an alternate and we don’t have a lot of extra weight to play with for alternate fuel” alternate. Along the same vein ING (Kingma...Jump to post
I don't know if this is still the case, but I recall areas without security fences but merely a "moat" between the road and the concourse. It struck me as odd there was no fence but I figured I wouldn't really want to swim across any body of water in FL. That won't protect against a pole ...Jump to post
What about the weight & balance? Surely the pilots got it via paper or electronically. Either way they should have seen ZERO for baggage. Now if someone put in a weight that they THOUGHT was loaded that is also a safety of flight violation. Yes, someone is going to be in trouble. Better hope thi...Jump to post

Imagine three guys in a canoe - one paddling on the left side, one paddling on the right side, and the third working the rudder in back. The guy on the left gets mad at the other two and sticks his paddle in the water, or maybe even paddles backwards to spite them (think thrust reverser deployment)...Jump to post
I think Georgia was referring to this from Wiki "This resulted in an even larger exodus through the port of Mariel, where an improvised flotilla of Cuban exiles from Miami in small pleasure boats and commercial shrimping vessels brought Cuban citizens who wished to leave the island. Plain and simple, I don't want to find myself and love ones or for that matter any one having to deal with the Engine Stops PAX Swim (ETOPS) Scenarios. Please note there are lot of hungry JAWS between West Coast and the Hawaiian Islands. Sharks eat seals and other mammals, which live near the mainl...Jump to post
I remember when I started with NCA in 1975 NWA took the thrust reversers off the 4 engines on 742 that flew to NRT to save weight.Jump to post
Hey guys. According to FR24, Allegiant flight 9249 from April 19, 2018 has a cruising altitude of 10,000 feet from Plattsburgh in upstate NY to the Florida peninsula. Is that even possible? Why would a flight stay that low? Is it possible the airplane has a pressurization issue? If the cabin can't ...Jump to post

I consider myself lucky to have flown the Navy P-2 Neptune. Not because it was a great plane but because it had the 3350 engines. It made me feel like a more complete pilot. What a monster of an engine. The navy had a 3350 with 1/4 cut out of it so you could watch it as the engine turned by an elect...Jump to post
The planes can’t do longer transcon routes, so your comment about the full capabilities of the A321 is a bit different for Delta since the airplane is handicapped to about 2000 miles. I think that the goal of any such flight would be to eliminate a double connection. To that end, the analysis would have to be the cities that SLC serves in the west that aren't served by DTW / MSP / ATL. Those would be: LWS, WYS, EUG, MFR, RDM, ELK, CED, SGU, MJT, GFT, PIH, TWF, and SUN. If those ...Jump to post
From a pilot aspect the ancient nose and cockpit windows that were borrow from early design B707. The cockpit wind noise is defining.Jump to post

Thanks for posting the video. I retired from NWA Dec. 2005 as a B744 Captain. After retirement I noticed I often had sleep problems with dreams of difficulty commuting to work. Loved the video as it brings back all of those hours on that wonderful plane. Hope it doesn't bring back the commuting drea...Jump to post

Not an engine expert, but couldn't the engines on a replacement aircraft just be motored each for 30 seconds after all of the pax deplane? Obviously that would double the starter engagements and HA could live with the much earlier replacements or have the engine manufacturer sell them a beefed up st...Jump to post
I am still hoping Southwest would pick up a few of these and convert them to all-Economy free-for-all seating 800 seater monsters! After 29,000 hours flying planes the B757-200 was my favorite to fly (pay and work rules wise the B744.) Some of the things I loved about the B757 were: 1. Pitch up on T/O was 22-23 degrees. 2. Flying with a full load from DTW-SEA in the summer could go right to FL390. 3. Could take a full load DTW/...Jump to post

First as to the cause of the engine failures the suggested causes mentioned above are all possible, especially the engine icing. Geographical definition of Europe is the area west of the Ural mountains. So while maybe 90% of Russia is east of the Urals probably 90% of the Russian population is west of the Urals, and the vast amount of flying for Aeroflot is in the west.Jump to post
