I don't understand why Airliners.net has not yet implemented their SSL? With all of the major changes (i.e. Google requiring it), why has Airliners.net not implemented one?
An SSL costs $8.99/year and takes about 30 minutes of a developers time to implement onto a website.
There's another angle here no one is talking about and that is the race to win HQ2. While London and Dublin flights are not a requirement as part of Amazon's RFP, it certainly helps our cause to have LHR and potentially DUB. Amazon has a very large office in London (600,000+ sq ft and 5,000 employe...Jump to post
I don't understand the desire for EI to enter the market at PIT. Is there that much demand for travelers to DUB? Do we have any local businesses with a headquarters or strong business presence in DUB? Here is my take on what we have: - Wow - Passengers looking to travel to Iceland or travel to Europ...Jump to post
I wonder, had this been announced and marketed even 6 months early, what would the load factors on the PIT>PVG and PVG>PIT legs be. People might have been able to actually plan a vacation with that much of a heads up. 2 months out for an announcement is not really enough time for a trip of this sca...Jump to post
Looks like condor from FRA to PIT had a landing gear issue and had to return to FRA.
Maybe it won’t be missed by you, but it will be by the 8000 staff about to lose their jobs as well as many passengers. How often did you fly Air Berlin and which flight did you fly that gave you such a bad experience ? Air Berlin might not have the best legroom, but it is by no means the worst on l...Jump to post
Clapping in Russia and the states of the FSU is common and happens on every flight. It's the culture and has been happening for many years.... Remember how dangerous Aeroflot was in the 80s and 90s? People knew this and were happy to safely arrive, so they would clap. It's also a sign of appreciatio...Jump to post
I totally understand your frustration. I only fly on United (Star Alliance), and really only had one BAD experience similar to what you had. Me and my buddies were flying from PIT-EWR-ZRH-KGS to attend a friends wedding, but more importantly, as soon as we arrived in KGS, i had a separate ticket fro...Jump to post
Don't worry about losing your passion for something. Either it was just a phase, or it will come back to you later in life. I can't even tell you how many things I was passionate about in my youth, and then lost interest for a while, or forever... I was in love with Aviation as a young man, but fell...Jump to post
Air Berlin won't be missed... I flew on them in January and boy what a mistake... Third world terminals in Berlin, cramped seating (had to sit sideways due to my long legs), crappy food, and hardly any inflight entertainment. Also, the flight crew left a lot to be desired. I'd never fly Air Berlin a...Jump to post

OneJet to announce 3 more destinations in the next two months, all of which are currently unserved and within 800 miles. http://triblive.com/local/allegheny/12775990-74/start-date-for-onejets-pittsburgh-to-providence-flights-delayed I really admire how that airline is progressing. 3 more destinatio...Jump to post
Looks like DL will be upgauging PIT-CDG to a 763ER next summer when the seasonal nonstop resumes. They will be using the high density 763 (25J 200Y) configuration, same as the new IND-CDG flight. That's awesome!! I thought they would go year-round on the 75S before upgrading to a 763. Flight appear...Jump to post
^looking more into this I now realize it is a bigger conference than I realized. So I do think it is good they are there. The amount they are spending still seems excessive (mainly the 85K for a room to meet in if the article is correct) but they know better than me. Once again.... Events like this...Jump to post
This is 100% the truth. Face to face is the only way. You literally can't phone it in. I agree with AaronPGH... Those of you who are bashing the ACAA for this trip have never been to a large convention before... Things like this are not cheap, yet they are where more than 50% of new business is con...Jump to post
It's been discussed here and there I've seen, but not recently. So I thought I'd bring up the topic again. We've seen some start-up airlines come and go (PeopleExpress is the best example I can think of) which obviously couldn't make it in the industry. They bought older planes with run-down interi...Jump to post
Frontier seems to changing from point-to-point to a conventional hub model. I'm not sure they know what they want to be. I totally agree with you. Spirit has their niche market figured out, along with Allegiant... But Frontier is just a mish mosh that isn't well thought out. I don't see how Frontie...Jump to post
It's great to try but as I said before it's going to Denver/Boston, etc. I will bet you any amount of money that we won't see it end up in Denver or Boston... Denver is already on the "western" side of the country, and Amazon wants a location on the opposite coast. Boston is too expensive...Jump to post
Well said. I work in baggage makeup and all I can say about the belt system is amen, brother! Also, why are they chasing upscale, overpriced vendors for the "AirMall" when the majority of the growth has been with ULCCs? These customers don't come here to shop....no one does. Who is buying...Jump to post
What is with the PIT vs. CLE beef? Is there some underlying rivalry that I am not aware of? Browns vs. Steelers? You don't see any of the IND, STL, MCI, CVG, and CMH threads wetting themselves over the 1 and one 1000 chance that they land HQ2. Yes there is. Pittsburghers dislike Clevelanders, just ...Jump to post

WHY is my only question? Buffalo won't get TATL service anytime soon or in the future... It's a depressed city with nothing to offer airlines overseas.Jump to post
Let's also not forget one of the MOST important things that makes PIT stand out much better than the mistake on the lake (Cleveland), and that is that we have MANY great universities, including the world renown CMU... Aside from CMU, the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne are very good universiti...Jump to post
I think the cities that most closely match what Amazon wants are Boston, Chicago, and Toronto; both are hugely expensive though. Amazon would have to decide that they're comfortable going with a non-Alpha city for Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or even somewhere like Detroit or Minneapolis to win out. Bost...Jump to post

I am really not happy with these concepts or the associated costs with them... I'm also intrigued as to the answer of this! Why would they all of a sudden mid flight divert and get delivered to Iran Air while being ferried to Pakistan... Seems rather odd? This is how Iran acquired their aircraft prior to the change in rules/sanctions. It's creative thinking and how they built...Jump to post
Why is EVERYONE complaining about the additional wait time that this will pose when going through security? How many of you actually fly in and out of PIT on a regular basis? Pittsburgh has a lot of shopping options all around the city and it's suburbs. The amount of people that are willing to ...Jump to post

I really hope they don't get rid of the landside terminal or any of the existing gates. In my opinion, it's better to have them, than to suddenly "need" them. Well Pittsburgh is hugely Irish, it's the region's second largest ethnicity behind German. I've been to Ireland 5 times over the years myself so I pray the route works out. I don't understand why some people are surprised by this, or why some people say that ACAA didn't promote the route enough.
