I've been looking forward to seeing JetBlue A220's at ROC. I figured it was a matter of time. I was on a B6 EMB-190 last summer and the interior seemed a bit long in the tooth. I've been on a Delta A220 and thought it was really nice.

Avelo is starting ROC-GSP on May 9. I would have expected ROC-BNA first, but we'll take it! Flights operate Sundays and Thursdays. ROC's current A2 taxiway is a replacement for the original A2 built with Runway 4-22 in 1967. The original A2 was a bit northeast, and it was actually a better design, with pavement to keep going straight as well as turn right, like old A3. You can see the outlines of original A2. Avelo seems to be doing ok at ROC. They've got the 2x weekly Monday and Friday through the end of their scheduling window on Feb. 14, and the schedule shows a third weekly flight on Wednesdays for three weeks around Christmas. F9 has now pulled out of ROC which makes me wonder if SYR is next. They are down to MCO and DEN/RDU seasonal. I see an opportunity for WN to go MCO and DEN daily if it were to happen. F9 out of ROC on May 9, Avelo in on June 14. I wonder if they'll just switch out signage on gate A3 and the F9 ticket counter.
I'd guess a carrier wouldn't want to run two flights a week indefinitely. I wonder if a couple of weeklies to BNA, FLL or SRQ might work.

The aviation news site Ishrion Aviation is reporting that Avelo will start service at ROC, flying to RDU. We'll see if this route happens, but if so it would fill a 22-year gap in ROC's network. Midway II served ROC-RDU from about 1998 to 2001.

NK is adding nonstop ROC-MYR 4x weekly on May 5. If it works at SYR, I don't see why it couldn't work at ROC. I was worried that it would struggle, when UA upgauged it to an A319 from the E175. Looks like DL has added ROC-BOS and it's a mainline RON nonetheless. In February it's an A220-100. Would that be ROC's first scheduled A220? NK will be using A1. Their own counters and 5 kiosks have already been installed, and PrimeFlight will be doing their ground handling. Counter is positioned between B6 and G4. Beginning in January you can only book a direct to Orlando from SYR on Frontier. Wondering if they will add new cities…big reduction from last winter. Seems like an opportunity for Southwest to add nonstops to Florida. Is that just for January, which I suspect is a pretty dead month after Christmas...

The pilot shortage is really hurting. That situation needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Hoping Spirit still comes to ROC as planned this fall. I suspect that their transction with JetBlue will be held up or denied by DOJ.

American appears to have scheduled A321's on the CLT-ROC flight that RON's, as of at least June 3. Hope this sticks around.....I don't think ROC has had a scheduled A321 since US ran them on ROC-PHL. DL flight 494, an A321 ATL-LGA diverted to ROC today, looks like due to weather. Parked at UA gate B8. Webcam caught it with ROC's regular A320 from ATL a few gates over.
