Initially I didn't get that this new brand is specifically for longhaul, it's only in the link and only in Spanish. Nevertheless I don't understand why they didn't just use the Vueling brand. What's the Point in having multiple different LCC names?

It's maybe rather a measue of precaution to be not vulnerable to protectionism. The EU-UK routes will be safe until the UK wants to target EU-UK air traffic in general, and no British government will force FR to move the jobs of the bases out of the UK. Maybe I've missed it on a.net, but I'm curious...

Of course the industry can deliver on time and in spec - e.g. new built F-16s. But cutting edge technology is risky and not fully predictable. If the customer is not willing to pay the price for the latest and most advanced technology he will get older technology- it's as simple as that.

I don't see an alternative airport in this calculations. What if the plane canot land in HLE e.g. due to wheather conditions? Is there another island with airport nearby? The range is not sufficient to fly to WDH after trying to land in HLE without success.
