AN SYD to MEL, 1996. I hadn’t paid attention to the aircraft upon boarding, but as we taxied I noticed the wingtip fences and realised I wasn’t on the usual Boeing.

I usually flew TN and them QF, but a change in employer meant a change in travel policy.

I think it is telling that the aircraft used on the publicity shot on the merger website are both Boeings. The choice of aircraft will have been deliberate.

Pardon my ignorance, but are US carriers allowed to start routes from any city to any city, without the need for route approval?
