AA 836 CLT-DFW why so low?

AA 836 CLT-DFW on 12/29 seemed to depart normally climbing to 26,000 feet, but then has been stepping down to as low as 9700 feet and now 5700 enroute to DFW. I’m guessing it’s not an engine out situation (they would have diverted) or pressurization issue (diverted also?). But a 4:30 flight on what ...

Re: AA31: Pax Attempts Cockpit Breech?

If you look at Flightaware, they dropped down to 10k feet about 750 miles out from Oahu. And then while still 180 miles out they dropped down to 5000 feet. Man I wish I was a passenger on that flight just to look out the window and see the perspective of flying that low over the ocean for that long....

Plane Hit By Lightning At Gate

The link below shows an impressive video capture of a plane being struck by lightning while parked at a gate with the boarding jetway removed. Looks like the bolt hits the top of the tail and exits through the tires as evidenced by some temporary flames. Neat video. <a href="http://www.msn.com/en-us...

Concorde Used To Chase A Solar Eclipse?

I came across a mention in the July 1973 edition of Popular Science that the Concorde was going to be used to "chase" an eclipse across Africa allowing scientists 80 minutes to conduct experiments. It further mentions modifications to the roof to fit special windows as well. Can't say I had ever hea...

I'm pretty sure if someone measured it, you'd find the E concourse at DFW is much more narrow than C or A concourse. Not sure if that's because A or C has been expanded since it opened, but E is very cramped (re...

Pretty sure the new 767 aircraft are incompatible with the AMJ's that FedEx uses, aren't they? It's been a long time, but is it the A2 container that UPS uses in those airplanes? I can tell you that FedEx plans 90 minutes for a complete MD-11 turn from block in to block out. Typically 35 min to download and 50 min to upload with a crew of about 17, though I've seen it done with as little as 14 (depends if you are loading Aft bulk).
