Re: 747-200F with blended winglets.

I'm going to say timing. December 2000 is just before the 9/11 financial crash, which killed off most of the worlds 747-200 fleet. Let's add (relatively) low fuel prices to the list. There was an increase post 9/11, but probably not enough to justify something like this when the above is taken into...

Re: Your opinion on masks while flying

I flew LAX-AMS a few days ago. Would I have preferred not wear the mask for ten hours? Sure. Was it that big of a deal? No. I honestly don't understand the anti-mask mania: it's a mild inconvenience at best, and the health benefits are well documented.

Why not? In Europe this is completely normal and has been for a long time. I remember travelling on Varig between Amsterdam and Paris in 1995. Quite a few non European airlines offer intra European flights, which are comparable to domestic flights in the United States. No problem whatsoever. That w...

Definitely an uphill climb, that. I've been on the lookout for pre-1979 cards for years and never found any.

I'm sure they're out there, but certainly hard to find in the U.S.

I'd recommend Uber or Lyft. Unlike the cabbies, they can see where you're going before they pick you up and can pass on the ride if they don't want to take you such a short distance.

On the way back, you could most likely get away with taking the shuttle.
