I'm all for BYO device - only if there's a charging point. I had no idea until today the old 738 business seats don't even have a powerpoint. I completely forgot to charge my laptop so I ended up watching the dropdown screen - felt like I was in the early 2000s again! I truly believe J pax should ge...Jump to post
3 Airlines has shown positive levels of interest regarding potential direct services to Busselton, though this does not guarantee anything it is a starting point https://thewest.com.au/news/south-west/airlines-keen-on-direct-flights-to-busselton-margaret-river-regional-airport-ng-b88968021z A thric...Jump to post
MH to use A333 on MH126/127 to PER from 14 Dec to 22 Dec 18 https://twitter.com/Airlineroute/status/1039649876777283584 Summer increase for KUL-PER-KUL. They are already competing with D7 which uses an A330 on their daily D7236 flight from KUL to PER and will increase it to 11 weekly during the sum...Jump to post
Chaos at MEL as they’ve cancelled almost all MEL-SYD flights from 7pm onwards except for one. I was booked on 494 (a practically empty 330 service) and now I will be spending the night at the Parkroyal. Apparently QF won’t cover my hotel room in Sydney for tonight - would Amex travel insurance cover...Jump to post
If SQ sees an increase in premium demand I would say they would upgrade one of the flights to 77W first before jumping onto A380 ship - this way they can give the market F and W capacity without dumping too much capacity. I know that would mean a bit reduction in Y seat but I believe that can be co...Jump to post
Had a wifi equipped QF BSI 738 on MEL-BNE this weekend and the connection was fast, consistent and hugely convenient. Then I got an old 738 on the return and it really did put into perspective how dated that product is! I really hope they consider installing the XZ fleet product on some of the older...Jump to post
5J to PER would be fantastic, and probably more suited to the market than PR. A route perfect for the 321neo. I have to say, the one route that I am surprised has lasted after all these years is PER-BKI on MH. It's just such an oddball flight for an airline with financial woes. Pretty crazy to think...Jump to post
It's nice to see VA getting a little more creative and announcing expansion with PER-HBA and now NTL-AKL. I think if they focus on untapped markets where they can develop a niche for themselves as opposed to fighting QF head on, things could turn around.
I'd love to see PER-AYQ, MEL-BME OR HBA-AKL.
There was talk a while back about JQ basing one of their (then newish) A321's with the high density configuration here to operate DPS and SIN circulars but don't think this ever materialised, aircraft was planned to be rotated to/from MEL. I've seen 321s on PER-MEL and PER-DPS during peak seasons, ...Jump to post
Just got back from a trip around Southern Africa and found it hilarious how cheap it is to nag an on-the-spot upgrade on almost every flight. $50 cash in hand (no credit card... seemed quite suss) upgrade on South African VFA-JNB on a 330 with the lie flat product, and $36 on Comair from Cape Town t...Jump to post
I know somebody who was on the flight... this is most definitely the tabloids milking a non-existent story. The aircraft did encounter bad wake turbulence for about thirty seconds or so from another 380 but the plane most definitely did not “nosedive” or “spiral towards the ground”Jump to post
A female passenger on a MEL-PER flight operated by VA caused a diversion after she threatened to kill cabin crew and passengers around her.
I hope the idiot is arrested and fined accordingly!
Will QF open a route PER-AKL-PER with correct schedules from flights from/to LHR/CDG/FRA ? QF run a seasonal PER-AKL 2 x weekly over the summer months - there was a time where this was being “assessed” to become a year round route. However matching schedules would be hard - you’d need something lik...Jump to post
Has QF caught the Basic Economy and 'Buy-on-Board' bug? AusBT reports QF looking at basic economy fares and 'pay as you use' ancillaries for AU-NZ flights, no doubt to help compete against NZ which has its own 'Seats to Suit' packages'. https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-is-looking-at-buy-on-board-for...Jump to post
Don’t know if there is any truth to it but it appears VN are about to announce a weekly Saturday service between Port Hedland and Vietnam from September. https://www.facebook.com/SpiritHedland/posts/2009768242389027:0 Unless this is a SGN-PHE-PER service on a 321 testing the market... SQ PER changes for NS19 SQ223/214 will see A333 operate replacing 772 Other 3 daily flights remain unchanged https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/278624/singapore-airlines-ns19-perth-preliminary-service-changes/ Just realised SQ are currently operating 3 different J products into PER.....Jump to post
It's going to be incredibly sad to no longer see QF 744s flying around.
Super happy I get to fly them one last time on SYD-JNB-SYD this coming June.
Woah... did not see that coming especially seeing as they already announced a downgrade to the 332. Disappointing considering PER was the second Australian airport to receive all 3 ME carriers, after MEL. I mean EK used to be thrice daily, so it seems maybe the market is shifting back to Asia (and Q...Jump to post
Sitting on QF10 PER-MEL and there is literally 4 of us in premium economy... I think it goes to show just how PER-centric this flight is! Pretty spectacular to have a whole row across to myself. Not sure you can judge one flight on a saturday night. Also havent you thought many passengers might be ...Jump to post
I’m flying the PER-MEL sector of QF10 on Saturday and it’s looking veeeery empty at this stage. My friend who is crew checked to see the status of my commercial upgrade request to Y+ and I’m the only one waiting with 20 seats to spare! I have a feeling the ridiculous domestic fares on QF9/10 will st...Jump to post
Just curious does anyone know the crew schedule for this flight? How much time in London? How many off days? Actually the PER-LHR-PER sector is predominately crewed by LHR based crew, not Australian. So their layover will be in PER. MEL based international crew operate MEL-PER and then have a layov...Jump to post
