Has QF caught the Basic Economy and 'Buy-on-Board' bug? AusBT reports QF looking at basic economy fares and 'pay as you use' ancillaries for AU-NZ flights, no doubt to help compete against NZ which has its own 'Seats to Suit' packages'. https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-is-looking-at-buy-on-board-for...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - May 2018

So that means the RB 788 will spend more than 12 hours on the ground in MEL every day - not the best utlisation for an already small fleet, but I guess they need it for seamless connections both ways to LHR.

Maybe they could do an AKL tag?

It's going to be incredibly sad to no longer see QF 744s flying around.

Super happy I get to fly them one last time on SYD-JNB-SYD this coming June.

I do think there is room for 2, but probably only 10-11 x weekly. Whether QF goes daily and SA reduces, I guess we'll wait and see.

With people under the assumption of QF dropping this route once LHR-SYD becomes viable, will be interesting to see if BA ever attempts LHR-PER in the future.

I do think that QF will hold their ground on this one. It’s had far too much publicity to drop it after 2 or so years.
