Can someone explain to me the protocol for iPads in Business on QF domestic? I flew BNE-CNS on a 712 and had an iPad in the seat pocket, but not on my 738 CNS-MEL service. You’d think it would be the other way around...

The QF code on CX PER-HKG is LONG overdue. I used to laugh whenever I’d do a dummy search and see them try and route me PER-SYD-HKG as their most competitive route.

Chaos at MEL as they’ve cancelled almost all MEL-SYD flights from 7pm onwards except for one. I was booked on 494 (a practically empty 330 service) and now I will be spending the night at the Parkroyal. Apparently QF won’t cover my hotel room in Sydney for tonight - would Amex travel insurance cover...

If SQ sees an increase in premium demand I would say they would upgrade one of the flights to 77W first before jumping onto A380 ship - this way they can give the market F and W capacity without dumping too much capacity. Had a wifi equipped QF BSI 738 on MEL-BNE this weekend and the connection was fast, consistent and hugely convenient. Then I got an old 738 on the return and it really did put into perspective how dated that product is! I really hope they consider installing the XZ fleet product on some of the older...

As I'm Gold I've never heard about these offers, how do they notify you? Through the Qantas app or an email? Would be good for some family members of mine.

I know VA does walk ins and also allows for certain Amex holders free entry.

5J to PER would be fantastic, and probably more suited to the market than PR. A route perfect for the 321neo. I have to say, the one route that I am surprised has lasted after all these years is PER-BKI on MH. It's just such an oddball flight for an airline with financial woes. Pretty crazy to think...

It's nice to see VA getting a little more creative and announcing expansion with PER-HBA and now NTL-AKL. I think if they focus on untapped markets where they can develop a niche for themselves as opposed to fighting QF head on, things could turn around.

I'd love to see PER-AYQ, MEL-BME OR HBA-AKL.

I’m on QF63 today to JNB and we are boarding at a remote stand... can’t remember the last time, if ever, I’ve boarded a 747 via stairs!

SYD is absolute chaos in the morning. Didn’t realise it was as bad, if not worse than MEL.

I know somebody who was on the flight... this is most definitely the tabloids milking a non-existent story. The aircraft did encounter bad wake turbulence for about thirty seconds or so from another 380 but the plane most definitely did not “nosedive” or “spiral towards the ground”

So that means the RB 788 will spend more than 12 hours on the ground in MEL every day - not the best utlisation for an already small fleet, but I guess they need it for seamless connections both ways to LHR.

Maybe they could do an AKL tag?

I honestly think a PVG flight would do much better than CAN - at least Shanghai has appeal as an O&D destination... haven’t heard of anybody planning a dream holiday to Guangzhou!

Ultimate scenario would be a 4 x weekly PER-JNB accompanied by a 3 x weekly PER-CPT, but one can dream.

As much as I would love to see QF on PER-JNB, it would be sad to see SA exit the Australian market completely.

I do think there is room for 2, but probably only 10-11 x weekly. Whether QF goes daily and SA reduces, I guess we'll wait and see.

I flew a QantasLink 717 from ADL to PER today, and it got me thinking how the route has seen regional jets become more and more common - VA fly in a F100 and the all economy 320. What’s the reason for this? Have passenger numbers declined?
