Re: 747s at DTW in the 1970s

I seem to recall flying Pan Am DTW-JFK in 1982 or 83 on a 747. Although, could it have been an L1011-500? Unfortunately I don’t have my records from that time period. But I really think it was 747s both directions. Maybe some can verify if PA used the 747 in that time frame even for a short period ...

Looks like HA will continue to operate 2 daily flights from HND to HNL after they return this slot pair. They are not leaving HND. Plus, they are still operating NRT-HNL.

I used to regularly fly 2 single aircraft TWA long haul routes:
SFO-LAX-HNL-GUM-OKA-TPE-HKG (707-331)
SFO-PIT-BDL-BOS-Santa Maria, Azores-LIS-MAD-FCO-ATH-CAI (707-331)

Seat pitch was a lot more generous back then as was the in flight service.

It's not like F9 is unwilling to have people arrive in the middle of the night. (Who wants a 00:59 departure from LAX with arrival to DEN at 04:26? Not me! Nor a 01:09 arrival to MCO from DTW.) 2 simple things would create more train capacity from the Main Hall/Terminal to Concourses A/B/C: 1. Open up the A Bridge Pre-Check more often. It is often closed which forces all Pre-Check passengers on to the train after Main Hall Pre-Check screening 2. Expand the opening hours of the A Bridge Sec...

Dear MME,
Please bring back:
1. Air service to LON
2. Rail service and a means of getting from the station to the airport terminal. Do you still have that electric cart?
3. More rental car options
If you do this, I will return and stop flying NCL or taking the train to Darlington.

Assuming DL is successful in moving NRT-USA flights from NRT to HND (and that is no sure thing), what's to stop them adding SEA-MNL-SIN to take care of NRT-MNL & NRT-SIN? Seems like that would take care of both issues, especially if 5th freedom traffic is available MNL-SIN?

AA initially served LPB on a MIA-PTY-LIM-LPB-ASU routing. This became MIA-LPB-VVI-MIA. The triangle routing achieved several objectives: 1. Addressed payload considerations ex-LPB 2. Provided a more hospitable crew overnight for the sea-level based MIA crews; F/As really struggled with the LPB stop ...
