Re: Why does JAL operate WB aircraft on domestic routes?

It’s the high density population coupled with the short distances intertwined with very long haul. Most of the time if you have a long haul aircraft flying 20 hours of the day, it just sits the other four because the domestic flights are too long to fit in the 4 leftover hours. The distances are so ...

Re: Qatar to put Hamad Int Airport expansion on halt

Since when is QR unprofitable? Since the Gulf blockade started 2 years ago. The current blockade is having an impact; I don't want to dismiss it, but QR must be run as a business. Reports 2013 and earlier were sketchy. There is also an overall problem with the ME3. EY is losing money by the ship lo...

Re: Former heads of PeoplExpress and PHF indicted

I always wonder if some of these startups are clever ways of hiding financial crimes since their business models make absolutely no sense. I guess we now know with PeopleExpress was a scam though. This has not gone to trial. They have been accused/indicted. Not convicted. Michael Avenatti who once ...

Re: Former heads of PeoplExpress and PHF indicted

It's hard to know how much of this is just sour grapes. These small airports are desperate to get service and then when it goes belly-up everybody is quick to point the finger. I've seen that a lot. I don't believe that only the airport CEO would have known of any illegality. The CFO it would seem w...

Re: Lakeland in talks with American for commercial flights

There were two big stories in two days out of LKL. One was Amazon putting a "hub" in LKL and the other was AA. The odds that a market that has not had a major development in air service almost ever would make significant progress on both at the same moment is really really really low. It ...

Re: AS trying to get B6

I'm not sure today what AS saw in VX other than preventing B6 from getting bigger. I think that's exactly right, but I believe the thinking is also that they have to buy B6 before B6 buys them. If AS has more merger hiccups and B6 improves its trajectory then that is a possibility. I also think the...

Re: Lakeland in talks with American for commercial flights

Less than an hour to TPA and an hour to MCO. Are you saying that is good or bad? You could make either case. I'm making this a separate thread on its own, any thoughts on why DL wouldn't want to look at LAL in the same light as AA would? Either way AA will get a nice incentive package for doing thi...

Re: AS trying to get B6

Probably true, emphasis “trying”. Given how the acquisition of VX turned out I wouldn’t loan them money to try again. Has it turned out so Badly? I think AS has their head around that merger Now. And? They're no longer scared of Airbus Products. I think it would be the best action for them to becom...
