Re: Delta CSeries deliveries to begin this year

Color me biased, but I could see some RDU routes upgraded.. AUS, BOS, NYC, DCA, MCO, TPA, and a few others.. simply because DL seems to be upguaging rather than expanding at RDU at the moment.. of addition, ORD and DFW have to be near the top of their radar..

Re: What's going on at RDU - 2018

Agreed. Right now, AA and DL can charge what they want because they do not have any low cost competition.. so the number of persons traveling may be slightly lower but they money they are making should be great compared to places that have a WOW or Norwegian competitive flight. According to this article from Triangle Business Joirnal , RDU has outgrown itself by 7 years and are predicted to be at 2025 air service level by the end of 2018. So what does that mean? Adding several thousand parking spots and expanding Terminal 1 with reconfigured + new gates and added ticketing...

DL would be wise to put a CVG/RDU style focus city in AUS, but I don’t see anything more than that. Just wondering why? WN is by far the largest carrier. When DL started building up RDU, it was because of the AA pull down and there was opportunities... that’s not the case with AUS. It has a huge lu...

I know DL hasn't added a new route in a while, but I believ.. and I could be wrong.. that their strategy right now is upgauging first.. less CRJs, CR7s.. and more CR9, 717/CS100.. I could see RDU as a 100 seat market with larger mainline for longer routes.. and then some new destinations?????

I think the thing we commonly overlook is the tourist factor here. When comparing BNA and RDU, there's really no comparison. RDU doesn't have the tourist factor that helps fill seats that aren't generally sold to business folks. On an aside, the convention market here is huge. It's a national conve...

RDU is replacing the 10,000’ runway with a 15,000’ runway and turning the 10,000’ to a taxiway.. I believe it’s a 11,500ft runway. 15000 would be longer then jfk 31L and would be quite un-necessary.
