Just a guess on my part but I'd say these are most likely for paint. UPS just completed the A300 cockpit upgrade in April so I cannot imagine that they would start retiring them now.

It would have nothing to do about demand, it has to do with the services provided by the tower in the specific airspace. Class E would have NO tower in it. Class B, C and D all contain a towered airport with different service levels.

Ok I know this will probably get zero responses, maybe one or two. USAirways had a big building here in phoenix, it now belongs to American Airlines. .. The old US Airways/ America West HQ in Tempe, AZ is not an American Airlines building, they moved out years ago since the HQ for AA is still in DFW.
