As mentioned above, in the vast majority of cases, no. There's charts and all of that which are standardized and easy to ready, and in most cases there's nothing special about an airport as far as arrivals/departures go that would require any kind of special review or training.
Jump to postThe Germans have troops stationed at Fort Bliss and at Holloman (though Holloman is being drawn down). Interesting about Holloman being drawn down, thanks for the info. I've been there a few times and it was always interesting to see the German number plates driving around this (sorry to say) truly...

I don't have any firm numbers. It's still active in the summer, with nonstops to three or four places, including some mainline stuff. But nothing compared to winter. Very seasonal but there are two peak seasons. Summer is actually bigger than winter. Nonstop destinations number over a dozen now. ht...
Jump to postVery exciting! The international realm appears to be fraught with risk for WN (if MEX was a failure, the likes of BOG, PTY, SDQ and even YYZ simply may not be worthwhile), while the largest unserved domestic metropolitan areas are now GSO (a risky venture in its own right) and MDT (an airport WN de...
Jump to postPropaganda or not, the possibility that a communicable disease can spread via international air travel has moved out of the realm of science fiction, into science fact. It's not really new. Previous diseases have been spread by air travel, including H1N1. I'm almost 100% certain I picked up my case...
Jump to postThis is interesting and exciting for me. I get to Bangalore once or twice a year and currently have to double-connect MCI-DFW/ORD-LHR-BLR. Now the opportunity to go MCI-SEA-BLR is going to be very, very tempting. I'm really quite excited.
Jump to postLet's see, JFK to LHR set a subsonic speed record. Passengers probably wondered what to do with extra time. Can they check into their hotels early? Drag their baggage to a cafe for coffee? I haven't seen anyone mention the poor saps flying westbound from London. To JFK is usually about 45 - 60 minu...
Jump to postPlenty of airlines have flights available beyond August to/from Hawaii. The two you chose just aren't two of them. Flights won't end mid-season, they're just not for sale yet.
Jump to postI get that they may be trying to do the best that they can, but there are so many ways around this (not saying intentionally) that it may be tricky. For example, what if I buy a one-way ticket from Wuhan to, say, Shanghai and then the next day fly PVG-DFW...would the US government have any good way ...
Jump to postwhich I understand is the shortest and most efficient route. I think you misunderstood. Shortest by distance, sure. Shortest by time is a factor of other things, most notably wind. Sometimes you want the fastest route, sometimes you don't. Most efficient also isn't always the same thing as shortest...

Jump to postWould Kansas City make it ok? C'mon people, let's be rational. Pretty sure the pilots did not think "cool, let's dump fuel when we don't need to and let's aim for a school". Some of you are such sensational alarmists, similar to the media these days. The other day I spilled fuel on my han...
Jump to postI really, really can't wait to see the reason that this couldn't have occurred over water, or the justification that dropping fuel over a heavily populated area was deemed a better choice than landing heavy.
Jump to postSo Spirit doesn't expect to restart MAX production soon? There are something like 100 +/- fuselages already sitting at Spirit ready to go, so even if Boeing started assembly again tomorrow, there would be quite a while until they would need more product from Spirit. Jump to postAA's flight is daily, not weekly. They also had Spirit for a quick minute from Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for the tip! Anyways, with an A319 in 124 seat configuration, it gives a 868 passengers per week asuming full capacity. This, times 52 weeks, gives some 45k tourists per year. The Symphony of the ...
Jump to postAlso, OS871 VIE-IKA is diverting to SOF. Sofia is barely an hour flying time from Vienna, why not return to the base in stead of landing in Bulgaria. Quite odd. Yeah, that's odd to me too. Obviously had the fuel to make it back to VIE if it had enough to make it to Tehran. Curfew issue, perhaps? St...
Jump to postPD can still connect pax to Florida thru B6 network. I have to imagine it's hard to attract people to fly YTZ-XXX-Florida versus just taking one of the many nonstops between YYZ and Florida on any given day. Even harder when you need to extend that connection in XXX to clear US immigration/customs ...
Jump to postDon't know why such a big plane is needed for this route. A narrowbody would be a better fit. B737? Lots of pax and cargo between Morocco and UK that may necessitate more than just a 737 Slots at LHR pushing RAM to consolidate operations to a larger aircraft Better use of 737s elsewhere 787 may jus...

Jump to postHas Macau had any European wide body service since TP flew LIS-BRU-MFM years ago? Given Macau is a popular destination for a large demographic I could see it working, at least to the US. Was the BRU stop a requirement for the aircraft to make it from LIS-MFM? Just seems like an interesting place to...

I think that regulators, aviation authorities and airlines across the globe need to be more strict on seatbelts. I don't how to enforce that, but that's how I see it. Noteworthy that I'm aware that sometimes it's not best thing to stay stuck in your seat for so long... At least keeping the belt on ...
