United would make more sense - a decent sized Star Alliance FF base on both ends. But I still believe that if UA/AA/etc believe there was a market there for their specific airline, they would be on that route already.

Yeah, KC vs STL is interesting...Kansas City is the largest city in Missouri, but the St. Louis metro area (MO/IL) is bigger than the KC metro area (MO/KS). All that really matters is the metro population since that is who the airport serves. Given that, STL is about 2.8MM whereas KC is about 2.1MM...

Just flew YVR-SEA on AS, on a 737-800 nonetheless. Talk about a quick flight but a long, long drive with traffic and a sometimes slow border crossing. AKL-WLG is 250NM which takes around 35-50 minutes in an A320 subject to wind and traffic, to drive this route it would take around 10-12hours by Car....

Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs):

ORD - 9.5 million
DFW - 7.2 million
PHL - 6.1 million
MIA - 6.1 million
PHX - 4.6 million


CLT - 2.5 million

That's a big part of the reason BA serve the others but not CLT.

I've cleared immigration and customs at ICN a few times between 4pm and 7pm and it has never taken me more than about 30 minutes with a US passport and priority checked baggage. Like many things in South Korea, they run things quite smoothly.

Also, note that immigration and customs are separate. They should have to clear both, but they're very different things that are often incorrectly lumped together.
