BOS is an important city for all legacy carriers. Lots of premium traffic, lots of business travel, its an important city to have coverage. We even see United jumping back into the BOS mix with lie flat transon seats coming on board to SFO and hopefully soon LAX. BOS is important for everyone AA and...Jump to post
Yeah if anyone new moves into PDX it will be WOW or Norwegian. I highly doubt they would do it, PDX is now very well served to Europe at the moment, they should try to keep what they have for now. Good luck, exciting times at PDX, hope this route does wellJump to post
The wildcards here seem like OAK and SNA as most of their service is out West. Of course these airports have to be included or whats the point of this. ATL and LAS might have all the cities covered, Dallas, Denver, too seem to have most or all.Jump to post
I really think BTV-MCO would work. I know plattsburgh NY is close and has great ULCC service, but i think there is still demand. JetBlue flew the route, Allegiant after them(sanford). The legacies seem to prefer the frequent hops to their hubs which makes sense cause it gives travelers more time opt...Jump to post
I think Frontier could do really well at ISP, yes southwest is there but there are millions and millions within a 90 minute drive. If they offer sales or gimmicks or advertising they can pull the people in. The ULCCs seem to be able to compete and sneak in on large o&d routes. I really like to s...Jump to post
I would call Basic Economy pretty customer unfriendly, I.E. "mean". Attempting to duplicate the Spirit product is certainly not "kind". This is just spin. Perhaps DL is a little better, but I'd say WN and B6 and AS are less mean than DL. Totally agree. Delta hasn't started being...Jump to post
The really entertaining trip report would be the 18 hours spent in an economy seat. That would be a fun horror story. I can't even imagine that much time, seated next to the wrong people could be a nightmare that longJump to post
Its a regional airport for people headed to that immediate area or who live close by. LAX is an international airport that serves a huge area and connects millions. They are different facilities, BUR doesnt have the space of LAX. For people that are super price sensitive or need non-stops will then ...Jump to post
There is actually no demand to DXB, Emirates survives as a connection carrier. Delta lost a ton of money on the route to DXB. Alot of the "O&D" to DXB are sites or people stitching airlines together since they tend to be really low to DXB. I have been to DXB its not a place i think mos...Jump to post
So in January AA will still be operating MIA-SLC , so Delta looks to be focusing all laser beams on JetBlue entrance into SLC-FLL moving up the road. I do see Delta operating 2x daily 7am and 7:45pm out of FLL alot of days they must be be really excited for JetBlues arrival into the market. I doubt ...Jump to post
Will United do this on BOS-LAX is the question. I am going to say Yes. This summer its only the lie flat 757s on BOS-SFO.Jump to post
This is why most really frequent travelers on the route take Amtrak Acela. The only reason the shuttles still operate is accella sells out so much there is plenty of market for the airlines.
I think the biggest issue is congestion, it doesn't take much of anything to make LGA have huge delays.
DTW has alot of international travel driven by the auto industry. Its not just the big three, tons of suppliers and other companies too.Jump to post
I mean routes like JFK-YUL, YOW and YYZ are really short hops wouldn't take too much plane time to operate them. Actual time in the air is short, usually takes longer waiting to takeoff. Montreal is 330 miles. The problem i think is since they are so short, frequency is high of carriers and fares ar...Jump to post
NYC-PHX i don't think is under-served at all, is it? Fares seem pretty low to me for the distance and theres are tons of flights by many airlines. It would be a really tough market to enter and use alot of plane time. Its not a route i would think has too much premium demand either and VX is a prett...Jump to post
I think this is a really smart add for them if times are good. TLV will offer lots of passengers to fill North American flights. WOW is really mostly a connecting airline, i just wish they would expand connection times and push banks. They have no solution when people mis-connect and Iceland is very...Jump to post
It would make no sense for lie flats on Concorde nor could you even afford that much space or weight per passenger. Its so short you couldn't get a good amount of sleep in, and if you are planning on sleeping anyway you might as well hop on the 7 hour flight and actually get some good zzzzzs in. Hav...Jump to post
I mean if a private corporation had created concorde they would have gone under. As others said commercially a total absolute failure. For technology and pride it was a huge success.
I wish i had gotten the chance to fly it as an aviation fan, but commercially too small a market.

Delta's response to LATAM leaving the GIG-JFK market; LATAM is redeploying that aircraft to the GIG-MCO market.
Southwest having massive check-in lines is really the airlines fault, (photo above) that could easily happen at any airport where the check-in is understaffed. The airport has problems but what medium sized airport doesn't in 2017 doesnt suffer from lines TSA lines at times or check-in counters with...Jump to post
Eniliria as always thank you for for doing an A+ job on these reports!! FAQ *DL SLC-FLL DEC 0>1.0 JAN 0>1.0 Deltas response to B6 was fast even for them. Not really too surprising though, Delta doesn't like B6 getting too comfortable on their turf. Delta has chased B6 out of SLC before but that was ...Jump to post
Uniteds image is so badly damaged at this point. I know A.net we hold the airlines to such a different standard but to normal people United is now considered the lowest of the low. Things are not passing over. -Tribeca Film Festival United advertisements had to pulled at the beginning of screenings ...Jump to post
From the article "Some costs would be passed down to passengers" Of course they will be, we all know the airlines are gonna be charged more then they plan, costs on these things always go up. A private firm is probably overly excited, this smells risky to me. I really don't think the "...Jump to post
I think MSP role in the system, is well, what it is doing now. Majority domestic connections in a spot in the middle of the continent. I cant see them expanding too much to Asia or Europe. They have most US destination handled or have been attempted. I really don't see this hub shrinking, it perform...Jump to post
I think they sit so that connection times work out on both ends both directions. It would be hard to time anything else that would allow for connections. Also with lie flat business I would want this overnight, it's efficient use of time. United just announced ewr-eze and is using the Same overnight...Jump to post
Anything with United is going to be picked up by the media these days.Jump to post
I wonder when a US based long haul LCC will emerge? Can't let foreign airlines have all the fun. That is a very good question. The US legacy answer temporarily seems to be the "Basic Economy" fares. Temporary fix to the ULCC model. Air Canada Rogue seems to be really doing well, i am sure...Jump to post
Scoot can do on the Pacific what Norweigan, WOW, and Iceland are doing over the Atlantic. The market for ULCC is huge they are where the growth is going to be. There is absolutely demand for a scoot across the Pacific. Eventually we will see a ULCC in almost every major market.Jump to post
there are lots of 9 they can use. I doubt they care at all. The Boeing 808 seems pretty much the same thing they make the 797 which doesn't seem like it will be anytime soon.Jump to post
At this point people are mad at airlines. We are gonna see more backlash as you see an article for any single thing people see on United still. I think if spirit had this happen pre United Airlines media meltdown this would not have happened actual fights, crazy yes but not this crazy. Now people ar...Jump to post
The reality is space has become too small, delays are too long (oh there is a drizzle somewhere so you are stuck in random airport for days since everything is booked solid) and fees are too high. The public has finally broken their frustrations out and unleashed it on the legacy airlines, i don't r...Jump to post
I would say it's a route the middle East carriers are probably looking at. They can do o&d in the peak times with a large plane and do on stops to their hubs in the off times with a smaller plane. Emirates seems to be making jfk-mxp work, I bet the ME3 if this could possibly work.Jump to post
Frontier network is shaping up like Allegiant a few focus cities but they will operate other routes they think are underserved. LAS, COS(new experiment), MCO, DEN, PHL, ATL, CVG, ORD Frontier has quite a few focus markets then flies underserved markets between cities. I wonder if G4 might open a vac...Jump to post
Shocked that we haven't heard DTW is the answer! Maybe the moderators have finally put this DTW is the world nonsense to bed! No real local market for DTW to most of Latin America, anyway. It would be ludicrous to add any flights in that direction. I can't resist. But DL flies DTW - GRU and has for...Jump to post
Both AA and DL fly SLC-MIA seasonally. This announcement might mean delta rolls to FLL . Rumor is MCO has done awesome out of SLC as a red eye so they might be pushing for more leisure red eyes good use of plane time. JetBlue has alot of employees in Utah so they can probably help them too with more...Jump to post
I think there are plenty of airports that are NOT 24/7. I think quite a few mid sized airports are dead overnight or kick you into the front entrance area not the gates. BTV Burlington Vermont has to be one of the smaller airports that is open 24 hours. The terminals are actually open 24 hrs and i h...Jump to post
seems to just depend on what flight attendants you get. I'd say more on longer and overnight flights. Rarely ive seen it on short hops. Some seem to not want to close for their own convenience ie the curtain gets in the way moving between cabins etc. Just depends on what cabin crew you get, i don't ...Jump to post
This is a REALLY different situation to the United one. This guy didn't plan ahead and did do something wrong. Its apples to oranges and will blow over quickly. Southwest does not really oversell anyway. Its very rare. Its United, Delta and AA that were really guilty of this.Jump to post
I'm sure it was for more than he deserved but not as much as he was hoping. Avoiding a trial and all the discovery of his past behaviors being made public was good for him.
