I think this makes total sense. These routes are all very leisure heavy and Delta was probably selling mostly upgrades or selling the heaviest discounted fares. Its probably easier to sell more seats at a lower price. Probably very few people were willing to pay $2,000 for a short lie flat anyway to...

I do think Emirates will serve DEN, i just think it will be a one stop via Europe. If i were them i would get on DEN-CDG-DXB since Norwegian appeals to a very different traveler. DEN-AMS-DXB would also be a nice other option.

No way could a flight from NZ to the Northeastern part of North America make money. IAH makes total sense, its a great location for connections. EWR is such a pipe dream, if they fly it they wont for long that will burn money.

Delta BTV-JFK is a good addition for connections. LGA is really horrible for connections its so delayed and has limited help. EWR-LAS should do well. United often charges such a premium for non-stop. Quite often connections in IAH, even LAX and SFO were way cheaper then the non-stops.

I really don't see a huge demand for this that is willing to pay a premium. I wouldn't even want to get on that plane, a leg stretch in LAX is nice on such a long flight regardless of class. Can you imagine basic economy on that flight, awful.

Looks like WOW is trying to be the first ones in, as people know these airports don't have enough O&D to support another airline now. Airfares will also be very competitive and last minute averages will go way down with WOW in the market, trashing yields. Good move on their part.

PHX is a little under 3 hours away. Leisure traffic probably mostly drives for non-stops and lower fares, and AA can handle business traffic and people willing to pay a premium to use the airport. Yeah in the Summer Iceland can use every seat they can get. But in Winter when tourism to Europe is way low , they probably have plenty of lift. They are a very seasonal operation based off of leisure traffic.

At most airlines flying routes in/out of restricted airports, the rule HAS to be that flights to LGB/SNA/HPN ALWAYS leave on time. Often, it invovles swapping aircraft. One time, WN "stole" our airplane to send it to SNA to get there before the curfew. My flight to SEA ended being delayed...
