I have no idea if this is true, but Alaska seems to have signed a pretty awful contract with Delta too. Maybe time they realize if you want to play with the big dogs need a larger team of lawyers, they are out for everything they can get.Jump to post
Just another example to show a new building does not bring in new service. Airlines really don't care about facilities at spoke locations (unless its so bad it inter-fears with service) The new terminals usually do the opposite as expenses and costs go way up then you deter airlines. Bakersfield, Sa...Jump to post
Yeah November is extremely quiet to Europe, delta does this every year.Jump to post
I bet we see some more large business makets and Asian origin traffic like IAD, PHL, IAH in not too much time. We saw ORD go in for the same reasons these cities would be served for business and to feed Asian flights. Delta seems really serious about making SEA work, i see them going all in.Jump to post
Given how insanely full planes are these days its already almost impossible to get reboked. IF they are leaving standbys behind, thats really gonna stink. On AA not that long ago my flight got cancelled they actually wanted to rebook me FOUR days later, you heard that right FOUR days later. I bought...Jump to post
Alaska Virgin Airlines..........poor Chester
They need to do something to bring them closer to one airline, no? Maybe Alaska airlines and Alaska America airlines on those routes ? The Alaska name I think has way more knowledge to the public. Keeping totally separate seems unheard of and weird.
This is not overly shocking. Delta wants seats to feed its Asian connections and ORD is a major origin of that traffic. Also Delta wants to serve all of the important business destinations for Frequent Flyers. No one can be too shocked at this, Delta is going all cards in on making Asia work. This i...Jump to post
They can fly it, but I Cannot see how this could actually make money. Sure there are passengers (whats the actual o&d a day i bet its highly seasonal too) Who is actually going to pay a premium for a non-stop, a few business travelers a day, this is not a market there is a ton of business traffic.Jump to post
I think Delta only applies so they can make sure B6 doesn't get them. Each slot is worth alot to B6 and Delta knows it. They only run SLC-LGB and they love to be a thorn on that route, they could add another flight, they are easy fills. Pulling up a random Friday in July for SLC-LGB i see: B6 3x 320...Jump to post
Its not really that uncommon on JFK/EWR/BOS transcons in winter when theres strong winds. The A320 only has so much fuel on board, it happens. Every airline has had fuel stops, annoying and stinks but its just a few times a year. Its nothing specific to B6 they just fly alot of 320s transon and with...Jump to post

Cuba continues to rival the HND hype/bust situation.
I do agree though alot of airlines will probably want mia-hav so they can drop their longer flights but only for that reason. F9 is really number crunching these days must be really bad for them to bail so quick not even fly in summer.
NYC-YYZ is extremely competitive and the market demands frequency. Many people do the flights not even staying overnight, etc. its a very competitive market, so i wouldn't be too surprised if this is true. Its so short they don't need anything more then a 145, we are talking 350 miles Montreal is ev...Jump to post
Colorado Springs can support alot of seats a day. The problem is there is a huge spill into Denver. The issue is airfares are so cheap and there are so many non-stops out of Denver it's hard to compete. Also the airport south of the city doesnt help. Business and some college traffic are the majorit...Jump to post
Good news for SWF i would thinkJump to post
No maybe if they see some o&d opportunities but not for connections. ATL is the city for conections.Jump to post
I agree i am sure they dont want a focus city. It is similar to what we saw in Denver they wanted a few more gates to reduce congestion and delays and to add frequent enough service to SEA and LAX to give them a shot. Delta knows a market like ORD you need frequency, and its a full airport they want...Jump to post
United serves alot of cities in Asia from EWR. I mean the airlines with hubs in JFK are JetBlue, Delta and American. I don't see how any of those airlines could actually make money on a route. If they cant make Tokyo work, i cant see where else would. That is the biggest business market i would imag...Jump to post
People on a.net dont live on Earth. A gate agent or flight attendant is not personally responsible to feed passengers on their low salaries. They cant just buy pizza they dont have corporate credit cards and it wouldnt have been approved without this huge story. Pizza for a plane of hungry passenger...Jump to post
Delta pads the flights and SLC has good weather so no real shock here. Skywest is also really good at SLC which helps them alot compared to the other connection carriers. The NYC airports at the bottom? No, never lol. The airlines really should require longer connections there. I would never let any...Jump to post
SLC is a connection airport. Delta has it all worked so security is needed between any terminals, they connect lots of people. You should be good, its maybe a 5 minute walk, not bad at all. SLC is great airport to connect. 2016 numbers just came in SLC was the most on time major airport so a good ch...Jump to post
I mean they are in a good location to make a WOW style connection hub with narrowbody across the atlantic. I see them actually doing pretty well. Its the legacy carriers that are gonna feel the pain of the ULCC and LCC across the Atlantic boom.Jump to post
Wow BA is gonna owe these flyers some real compensation. Majority on this route are frequent commuters and people whom the company paid for their flight so , would be interested to see how they compensate them. This flight survives off of frequent heavy flies and not that high in number Angering 30 ...Jump to post
Kansas City is not large enough, airlines are not going to serve both. So you pull a few airlines out of MCI into this new airport. What does that provide? Some people have shorter drive times but we are talking huge costs. Doesnt really make much sense to me. How could this new place have lower ope...Jump to post
LGA is americas worst airport no question about it. Joe Biden was right in calling it a 3rd world airport, many have nicer airports then the New York City area ones. LGA badly needs a non bus subway link , we are still years and years away from they say 2023 but im not holding my breathe. Lets hope ...Jump to post
Isn't this the whole problem with only hubs in JFK and bos? They are gonna get the same storm at the same time, so close. The airline comes to a screeching hold when theirs a winter storm .
Flights are so full these days it's hard to rebook.
Eastern Canada i think we will see WOW and Norwegian try some single aisle flights. YOW and YQB i think we perfect for seasonal less then daily service.
YXU (london ontario) i could even see work less then daily summer to europe or to the Caribbean in winter.
B6 has only so many slots. Each international flight you add, one domestic would leave. Its worth more for local residents to have the frequent domestic destinations, maybe is the lines of thinking? LGB is such a cool awesome airport, I think B6 is doing quite well there now. They have a niche. JetB...Jump to post
I don't understand the obsession with KEF. I swear just about every fan boy in the US would sell their soul to get a flight from their city to Iceland. Its a great geographical location to connections to Europe and its tourism is Thriving. Also cities can easily land a ULCC with less then daily ser...Jump to post
This is the easiest question ever put on a.net: NO This is the one airline that can consistantly make money in good and bad times. With high oil or low oil prices they can make money. The struggle is real for Southwest. I pulled the following facts on Southwest (LUV) to demonstrate (final 2016 figur...Jump to post
this will certainly help them get Indian passengers. EWR is a very large o&d spot for india. Emirates flys to so many cities in India. I actually see this working for them. Alot of the indian flyers wont mind a stop in ATH for a low price, and seasonally they can do very well. I see this odd rou...Jump to post
BDL is the other City I would have expected . There's a lot of pats fans nearby.
Btv is much more Giants country. They even did summer camps at the university of Vermont in the past. You head east you hit Patriots country fast but lake Champlain ain't Patriots country. Pretty blue in btv
Didn't the legacies promise to congress they wouldn't charge for overhead bin space? IIRC delta specifically said to congress they would never charge for overhead bin space. Southwest is still the premier airline, allowing you to check when these cheapskates are gonna charge for a carry on now. Long...Jump to post
My guess would be unless delta sees some odd routes that only this plane can do financially i would expect them to replace MD88 routes primarily I bet these planes will open up some SLC routes but only after the new terminals go in. New Routes like FLL-SLC or BDL-SLC could probably be profitable wit...Jump to post
Interesting move. Who would be AY's target market for these flights? It m...Jump to post
Despite the fact that CLE and CVG are larger in total O&D than SLC, it doesn't matter. SLC has the geographical position where no other hub (other than DEN) works. I have no doubt that JFK-MXP was very profitable at one point, but Emirates has to have killed that. some of this question depends on where in the world you live. kind of a hard question and personal opinons
757 on JFK to LAX i would say
747 on LAX to LHR
737 on PHX to LAS (southwest)
How prepared is KEF (and surroundings) for hosting a/multiple plane-load of passengers, who have become stranded and must wait (in some cases, 24, in others 48-72 hours)? Being able to 'offload' passengers also means acquiring the cost of their accommodations, their re-bookings, and in many cases, ...Jump to post
