788 is the perfect plane for this route.

United might be seasonal right now, but with a 788 i could see them go year round if/when bookings look good. Fall 2018 is along time away for scheduling.

The ULCCs stink when things go wrong, but the legacies are not much better in 2017 they leave plenty of non elite travelers stranded for days too. I saw last summer AA telling people they couldn't fly out for 3-4 days and people leaving the podum crying, this after they had stood in line for 2 hours...

Delta has taken away so much, they are finding it necessary to add things back.

I will be the first to say AM has some weird things about it but in cabin comfort i have never seen as any different then Delta.

Seriously 0% risk until 2050 maybe longer. We cant even build true high speed rail in the United States. True high speed rail like in Europe or Japan would certainly threaten commercial aviation way more then this.

In the US i would think ANC, HNL, OGG, BTV, SYR, ACY are all good options for the larger airports they don't serve. Overall they the USA really well i think they are the largest domestic carrier, right?

Northeast-Florida seems crazy, but that is exactly the routes that seems to be working. The type of route spirit flies, high volume route even if someone else owns it. IE they would not be afraid to fly EWR-MCO, United does not scare them. The opposite, United economy basic is trying to protect them...

EWR will never be ATL. Delta has the space, the geographical location, and ATL only has one airport. United can never replicate that at EWR too many reasons.

This is the product that people want. ULCC long haul is going to be the new thing. The US legacies better hop on board quickly or all of these ULCCs are gonna grab market share. Yeah if anyone new moves into PDX it will be WOW or Norwegian. I highly doubt they would do it, PDX is now very well served to Europe at the moment, they should try to keep what they have for now. Good luck, exciting times at PDX, hope this route does well

The wildcards here seem like OAK and SNA as most of their service is out West. Of course these airports have to be included or whats the point of this. ATL and LAS might have all the cities covered, Dallas, Denver, too seem to have most or all.

The really entertaining trip report would be the 18 hours spent in an economy seat. That would be a fun horror story. I can't even imagine that much time, seated next to the wrong people could be a nightmare that long
